Thanks Mike

Your info helped a lot. I had no idea as to cost or what to expect from the two different types of blowers. All I’m really trying to do is get the most out of my truck until the new 6.0 Powerstroke comes out.

It’s hard to wait because last month I found a dealer here in Louisiana who says he will sell any truck Ford makes for “a couple hundred” above invoice provided they order it. To prove it he offered me a Superduty that had just came in and showed me invoice. Yep, their making money!

Hi Rand,

Good post!

I think those Edelbrock headers, and even their entire exhaust system for the F-bodies, is the best bang-for-the-buck in headers & exhaust for those F-bodies, we've seen and installed them on numerous F-bodies back when we used to install just about anything, and we were always impressed by the job Edelbrock did on those F-bodies, excellent. Glad to hear you used them and liked them, too.

You're right on the money about the differences between the LT1 & LS1 motors, the LS1's make more power, and their torque is made a bit higher up too. You know, these days anyone who can finance a little over $20K can walk into any Chevy store and pick up an LS1 Camaro, and go low to mid 13's with a top speed of over 160 mph, bone-stock! You're right, it doesn't take a lot to get them into the 12's. I don't think I've ever seen a bone-stock LS1 Camaro run 12's, at least not in the summer, perhaps in the Fall, I don't know. We usually see times ranging anywhere from about 13.6 on the slowest to about 13.3 for the quickest in the F-body LS1's, and then the Corvettes run about 13.2 on the slow side to 12.90's on the fast side, bone-stock. I haven't been by LS1.com in awhile, so your information is more up to date than mine is on what's being posted there. Have you seen any talk of the Pontiac Firebird LS1's being about 2 tenths quicker than the Camaro's? That used to happen quite a bit with the LT1's.

Hi Conocoan,

You're very welcome, of course! Given that you're going to be getting a new Powerstroke, it may or may not be worth it to you to do the supercharger installation, probably not given the expense, unless you just want to have a hot-rod Ford truck.

Good luck whatever you decide,
