Post Mike, car won't start!!

Mike,

I left a message at Performance Products, but I don't know if you will check them soon. So, if you see this first, can you please check your messages and give me a call ASAP. I installed the chip in my Expy, but it won't start. I am almost positive I removed all of the coating on the contacts. It took me over an hour!! It is also a pain in the butt taking out my computer because the load leveling suspension switch needs to be removed in order to take the computer out. Pleeeease call me. Thanks.

Robert

Either the Superchip does not match your current computer code or there is a good chance that you may have missed a small piece of the coating. Has your Expy ever been in for service?? Sometimes they will upgrade your computer software and "hopefully" leave the new code under the hood.

I used alcohol to clean the contacts after I scraped off the contacts. It is a good idea to use a small, green scratch pad to go over the contacts. The smallest piece of coating will cause a no start.

On my previous truck..I installed the Superchip and everything ran fine. The next morning..I went out and the truck would not start. The problem turned out to be the computer mounting bracket was pushing on the chip and this had dislodged the chip just enough for it to break contact. Even with heavy duct tape on it..it was able to push it ever so slightly. I removed the computer, removed the bracket and flattened the bracket edge. After reinstalling everything..I never again had a problem. I did the same thing for my current truck and I have also not had a single problem.

I know it is a pain, but take another look at the contacts. Good luck!

Hi Robert,

Thanks for calling, that's the best way to let us know if you have a problem, especially over the Holiday weekend.

I hope I didn't wake anyone up when I called you this morning, it was probalby about 8:30 am your time, and I didn't think about that before I called you, so please accept my apologies if I awoke anyone at your residence.

Just try what we discussed, and let me know what happens. It's always something simple.

Mike,

I took out the computer again, and scraped the contacts again. There was some coating, but very, very little. However, after reinstalling the computer with the Superchip, the car will still not start. I looked at the diagram of the circuit boards on the web, but I could not identify one that is identical to mine. I left a message at Performance Products, so please give me a call. Thanks.
