I had a question about a superchip in my 97, 4.2 . I went to a the local shop and asked about how much a superchip would cost. They proceeded to tell me that there was no such thing as a superchip for the 4.2 engine. They said that Jet and Hypertech made a module that was the same thing, but that there wasn't a chip. Is this true or do they just not carry the right brands. I really want a superchip brand chip, not some Hypertech module that I know nothing about!! Thanx in advance for any help or info.

No, not by a long shot, they just don't know anything about Superchips, that's all.

We have a number F-150 Online members using the Superchip in their 4.2 V-6 F-150's, and are very happy with it. The Superchip adds power at *all* throttle positions, so it works all the time. It is also made specifically for the exact software revision in your individual vehicle, whereas the Hypertech & Jet are "generic" programs made to run on all similar vehicles, and these are 2 key important differences between the brands that make a lot of difference in the end result.
