Thumbs down Superchips cant chip mine

Does anyone know a computer chip company that can chip a 2000 F-150 V6? I purchased a superchip and I was really happy with it for a week til it just stopped working. I took it out and made sure I cleaned the contacts right and they seemed fine so I reinstalled it and duck taped it so that the chip would receive continuous contact from the computer and it worked for a while then quit. I send the chip back to them and they sent me a new one and it didn't work either. Then I sent them my computer and they cleaned up the contacts and everything and it still didn't work so I just got my money back. I want a chip that works continuously please help!!!!!
Thanks
Rene

Hi Heretic,

That's very strange, as we have many 2000 4.2 V-6 F-150's running around Superchipped just fine. The V-6's use the same computer that all the rest of the F-150's do, there is no difference in the computer on a hardware level, the only different software to control the V-6 powertrain, of course.

If the Superchip wouldn't work because of some problem with the connector on the computer, the Hypertech unit isn't going to work, either, as it attaches in the same location.

Ther is nothing inherent in any of the 2000 F-150's that precludes being able to use the Superchip, there are many 2000's right here on F-150 Online using the Superchip, so I don't know what the problem was in this case, and of course we're sorry to hear it didn't work out for you.

Hi Bill,

Good point, but in his case, he sent the computer in, so I'm thinking they must have done a "read" on it to check the code.

He just called us, and we are going to try to go back and track this to see what happened for him, as we have a rather large number of other 2000 4.2 V-6 manuals with his same computer code running just fine, so I think this probably is an issue of damage to his contacts, we'll see.

Thanks for helping this gentleman, Bill!

Hi Heretic,

It was good to speak with you on the phone just now, thanks for calling!

As we spoke about over the phone, if you can locate your RMA number from where you had Superchips work on this, we'll be happy to go back and examine just what they found, and see if it's worthwhile for you to try the Superchip again like you want to, or if the damage to your contacts was just too much to be repaired, or just what the situation is.

We may find that there is a way to make this work for you, or we may not. If your contacts are damaged beyond repair, then the only way you can use a performance chip on that vehicle is to replace it's computer. at any rate, if you can locate the RMA number we'll be happy to try and research this for you.

It sounds like you have a very nice truck there from all the modifications you told us about.

Talk to you soon,
