Question Sound

When running the open filter can you hear the fuel injection like you could the old 4 barrel carbs with the open elements?

K,

Yes you can. If you add a louder exhaust you won't hear the induction noise but with a stock muffler you will hear it.

Hi K.,

Just to add a bit to the other responses...

Yes, you will be able to hear the intake airflow much better with an open filter element, or with one of the airbox elimination kits.

Your comparison to the sound of those older 4-bbl. carb engines is very close indeed! On light throttle, you may hear a bit of intake "moan", and then as you give it more throttle opening, it sounds more and more like those older 4-bbls. used to. When you really romp down on it, you may get a blast down memory lane from that kind of sound.

Hi K.,

That "silencer" isn't in the airbox itself, it's in the air tube.

The plastic-intake-manifold Y2K's make a fairly authoritative (pleasant) noise even stock.
