Cool 1/4 Times Finally!!

Finally bit the bullet and went out to Houston Raceway Park in Baytown. Weather conditions were terrible. Track actually closed for an hour or so due to rain, but reopened. The temperature was 85 Degrees with 90% humidity (Good ole Houston weather).

R/T .616
60' 2.304
330' 6.712
1/8 10.410
MPH 67.510
1000' 13.580
1/4 16.311
MPH 82.230

I was hoping to get in the 15's, but not tonight. After I install underdrive pulleys, that should do the trick. Then on to changing the gears. Still haven't decided on 3.73's or 4.10's. Any suggestions?

BigAl,

Not bad at all! In my opinion if you are going to change gears for all this you might as well go directly to the 4.10s.

There just isn't that much of a percentage difference to the 3.73s from standard 3.55s.

Watch TNN - Car and Driver. They've got a Corvette on there running 225 mph and you can buy one if you've got the money...

11 seconds at 133 in the 1/4

dang!

Wink

Bill,

I'll betcha if you put the difference in price from your truck to his Corvette you can make yours do 225 mph too!

Hi Al,

I agree with Dunbarton, if you're going to do the gear change, go for the 4.10's, that is good advice.

For the conditions it sounds like you did very well, and a great reaction time, too!

I have the same truck and ran approx. 3 weeks ago. I ran twice in the same type of weather here in Baton Rouge LA. My second time was just under 16 seconds and 84 mph and we have the same mods except the pulleys. I think they make a good bit of difference. Good luck!!

4.6L 5-sp. Only mod was the airbox.

10.34 1/8
16.02 1/4

Normally aspirated, running 235's, and LOOSE ALL THE WAY THROUGH FIRST.

Now for the 275's, the blower, and the chip...

Do you guys think I can break into the 15's? 14's? Anyone have any opinions?

Thumbs up

With the blower and if you can hold traction
you will definately be in the high 14s. Plus your truck is a lighter version which gives you a good power to weight ratio. Heck the low 16s for a 4.6 is a good place to start.
