Cool chip me !! please

Ok, I,m ready for a super chip. How do I make sure I get it right the first time? I move residence every 4 weeks and don't
want to have to send it back to get it to work right for my truck. my mail gets forwarded every month so it could drag on
two or more months if it's not right. I don't
even want to think about having it sent directly to me as it might get held up and
I would miss it. could you e-mail me or
call me so we can figure some thing out?
please,I really want one,BAD

Hi 98 Screamer,

Well, people don't have to send their Superchips back and forth "to get them right", so that is not a problem.

There are some unique situaitons, such as highly customized supercharged applications, where every once in awhile we'll need to make an adjustment perhaps, but that is very rare, and not something you will experience with the modifications you have listed in your signature line.

Remember, each Superchip is programmed for the exact software revision in your vehicle's computer, so you get a program that was made specifically for *your* vehicle. So when you place your order, we will need to know your vehicle's computer code, which is very easy to find. Simply open your passenger door, and look in the front part of the door frame, in the general area of the door hinges, and you will see a sticker with 3 letters and 1 number on it, and that is your computer code. FOU1, JPL2, etc. are just a couple of examples, there are many different codes, they will always have that same format, 3 letters and 1 number.

We did call and leave a voicemail message for you to contact us at your convenience.

Best of luck with your truck,

Question

Thanks for replying, I had read on here
that people had their chips reburned so
I assumed there may have been a problem with their particular chip. Thank you for clarifying that for me. I will call you
sometime after next week (doing the Grand Canyon and Vegas for a week)
Maybe then I can get you to overnight to me,cause I'm just a big kid and can't wait.
My fiance, the main contributor of the payments, says she'll let me do everything but lower it. So that's exactly
what I plan to do,hehehe . I'm nearly halfway through the planned mods and I'm having a hell of a time.
last question,,I can use my shiftplus with
the chip can't I? as long as it doesn't shift
too violently.

Now you tell me!

I finally bought the shocks (special order at Pep Boys) last Thursday. Should be here tomorrow or Tuesday. I may go ahead and keep them until I can get some others since the factory ones are already shot. The Gabriels can't be any worse. Besides, they were only $80/set. Spent that much on just 1 of the Edelbrocks for the Expedition- but those have been great shocks.

Glad your truck made it OK (mostly). Have fun on vacation!

Sure did! they only broke an exhaust
hanger this time.... I think they are using
my custom duals to tie it down. Last time
they tied it down they shoved one of my
$60 gibsons against the rear bumper
and it rode that way for 1700 miles. scratched the finish off and it rusted but it's not that noticeable(whew) The requirement for that job must be that you
are breathing,,,and can walk.
My Gabriels aren't working out so well,
though, They don't seem to be able to take the bumps as well after a few miles.
you can feel multiple rebounds when you
hit a bump. I'll probably find some Bilsteins or something to correct the problem soon. my tires cost $650 and don't feel like paying for another set just yet. I'll be gone for a week and computerless as well starting today.
I dread weeding through the fifty plus junk
e-mails I'll have by then.lol

Those Edelbroack IAS shocks are *excellent*, we use them too where it's appropriate. I think they're the best of their kind (on the street), and have noticed recently a few commercials of another shock manufacturer now doing something very similar to what those IAS shocks do.

Thumbs up

The Edelbrocks aren't too bad off-road either. I probably wouldn't try a Baja race with them, but they'll handle all a "near" stock truck will endure. If they just didn't cost so much!

Hi nomo!

Never tried the IAS units in a real offroad situation, like where you need a lot of additional travel & articulation, so I couldn't comment on that, but for the street at the very least, they are a great shock. Like you said, for a close to stock truck (one that is not significantly lifted) they should probably be far better than stock even offroad, too.

You're right, they are expensive!

Hi Mike!

Sorry to have changed subjects on you. 98Screamer and I were (in the suspension area) discussing Gabriel shocks when he said he was having his truck shipped via rail to AZ.

I agree that they "shine" the most on the street. But, if you check out some of the photos of the Second Annual Xpedition Expedition (and a few others on my website), I think the Edelbrocks show they can hold up as well as Bilsteins and Ranchos when hitting the trail. There's even a model to fit Ford trucks with 4.5" of lift.

Hi Nomo,

Thanks for cluing me in, I had no idea that Edelbrock was doing shocks for lifted trucks too. It's been awhile since I looked at their lineup, obviously!

Back when they were first introduced, about 4-5 years ago, they had limited vehicle availability, and nothing for lifted vehicles, so I'm glad to hear they've gotten much broader in their applications, excellent! It would be very interesting to see how the Rancho's etc., stack up against the IAS units offroad in lifted vehicles now that they're available.

Have fun,

Hey,guys I'm back! What a fabulous trip!
Driving through Zion Canyon is almost to
distracting to stay on the road. Got to see
the other western dam and lake too(Glen
Canyon/Lake powel) by accident, drove out of the way about 100 miles. It was worth it though. Well,Vegas was worth it ,
too. I won enough in one quarter slot to
buy my chip!! Third roll of a $5 bill.Too fun!
If any of you guys go to Zion, definitely stay
at the Desert Pearl,Ask for a river view.
They do have a web site where you can
see the room.
