Mike T....HELP!
I installed my superchip (YBQ3) today and when I first tried to start my truck it ran for about 10 secs then cut off. I restarted it and it ran for about 30 seconds before cutting off on me. After that it wouldn't fire off...just turns over and over. I removed the computer and chip and went back over the contacts on the chip and re-installed everything...still nothing but a cranking engine. Any ideas?

Hey Sport,
I had the same problem with mine the first time i put the chip in. Ended up takeing everything out again to see if the truck would run without it and it did. So I removed the computer again and in the instructions it tells you to sand the conection where the chip attatchs to the computer well I hadent sanded the fine fillement off the conections enough. The first time I sanded was scared too (didnt want to wreck anything). The 2nd time I kind of got after it, Put everything back toghter, crossed my fingers and it fired right up, backed it out the shop door and roasted the tires up the street. If that dosn't work ask Mike T.

I have to ask...has your truck been in to the dealership for any type of work? Maybe they reflashed the computer to a new code??? This has happened to several people on here.

Thanks for all the help everyone...including the prompt email Mike T. I went out yesterday morning determined to get the thing to work and for kicks I decided to try and start it once more before I tore it all apart another time...and damn if it didn't fire right up! It didn't even hint at firing off the night before...just turned over and over and over...oh well it works now. You sure you didn't come by in the dark of night Mike T? LOL

Hi 99f150Sport,
I'm sorry to hear you're having a problem, especially over the Labor Day weekend!
We got your email, and just responded in detail. So rather than repeat all of that info here on the boards, check your email response from us, ok?
We are officially closed today for the Labor Day holiday, but we're in and out of the office today (building the new computer), so if you want to give us a call and go over this in detail after you've read our email response, you can try and see if we're still here. If we're not (and we probably won't be), make sure to leave a voicemail with a phone nubmer to reach you at so we can return your call, just in case we miss you.
This is going to be something very simple, it always is, so hang in there, and check your email, ok? From your description of how you cleaned your contacts in email, most likely it's still more of the clear-colored conformal coating that needs to be removed, but we've gone over the steps you need to take in our email response, so make sure and do that first, and then call us if you still have a problem, or would just like to discuss this with us, ok?
All the best,

Hi 99f150Sport,
Shh, that's supposed to be a secret! We get up and fly secretly out each night doing stealth repairs so owner's trucks will mysteriously fire right up the next moring, and now you've let the cat out of the bag, so there goes our secret.
Seriously, we sent you another email in response to your post, which you'll want to go over closely. What we're going to find is that it's still a little bit of conformal coating somwhere that got displaced just enough by the thermal expansion & contraction of sitting overnight that it allowed it to start. We've seen this work in reverse, where the truck originally started but didn't the next morning, and it's all the same thing, a little bit more of that coating *somewhere*. So please make sure read over our response in email, for the complete details.
Good luck, & let us know if you require further assistance!
