Hello all,
I am a new poster here. I have a '97 Expedition that has 37M and has the 4.6 L and 3.55s. A mechanic at a local garage has a superchip that he says he will have re-programmed and sell for $150. He says he will install it for me also. I am going to buy a Superchip anyhow, but is it worth the $75 bucks savings? What are you opinions? He also recommended a Gibson exhaust and K&N filter system. Are these items good combinations? I have had the truck about 1 month and wish it had more motor and got better gas mileage. What are real world expectations in power and added fuel economy with these three mods?
The truck is in great shape and I am very pleased with it (I got it for song!).

At that price it sounds like a good deal, as long as the code matches, and as long as he'll stnad behind it should you have a problem. Superchips generally have an extremely low outright failure rate, so if you can get a good deal on a used unit, it's usually a decent bargain.

Hi Squanto,

Just so you'll know, no other Ford will ever have that YSL2 code except an identical 1997 4.6 automatic F-150, that is the only vehicle that ever used that code.

Also, just in case you might not already know, the Webmaster here has a free Classified Ads section here where you can list that used Superchip for sale, and at that price, it should disappear very quickly! Just click the link on the left side of your screen that says "Classifieds", and it'll take you right to it.
