Superchip use with CGN
Hi Trixman,
Your Superchip can be reflashed to a different program, but it's current program will not work with CGN. Superchips has done programs for a very few vehicles using that type of fuel if memory serves, but it's very rare, and we'd have to check and see if they could even do a program for your vehicle if you convert it.
CNG can be an excellent fuel, allowing fewer emissions and longer engine life from reduced contaminants introduced into the engine oil, etc. It is a very costly conversion, and in most cases makes sense mostly in fleet situations from what I know of it. However, I'd be the very first to say that I am no expert on this by any stretch of the imagination! What I can tell you with certainty is that the current program in your Superchip will not work.
We used to see more of these conversions prior to the introduction of computer controls. I assume that part of the conversion process includes changes that would be necessary to even the original factory programming, which is of course designed to run on gasoline.
Just out of curiosity, can you tell us what the rough costs are for this conversion, and why you are considering this? Just curious....
Best of luck,

The conversion cost about 7K. But the state of AZ just passed a bill #1504 that would pay me back for the conversion. More info can be found at www.azstar.com under az incentives. Chris
