wjt: I found on my last truck (V8 SC 97 F150 4x4, 4.6 manual) that milage did increase. But what I really liked was the increased power that the superchip gave that beast. It was a very heavy configeration and getting all that weight moving took some doing. And because of it being sooo much more "speedy", I ended up with a bad case of leadfootitest. That did show up as poor milage!! But after a few tanks of gas vertially disapearing overnight and wearing out a set of tires rather early, I learned to drive a bit more sedately and that's when I saw the increased fuel milage!!!

Hey UrbanCowboy,
Although the Superchip is specifically made to increase performance, hp, torque and tighten up shifts. It has been known to increase gas mileage for most members by 1 to 2 more miles per gallon. My Lariat has seen an increase of 1.5 miles to the gallon.
In my opinion, it's a great mod. and well worth the money.
Best of luck and welcome aboard!

Dear Urban Cowboy,
As you can see from the responses direclty from the people using them, most people tend to see a bit better gas mileage with the Superchip. On average, most of the V-8 F-150's pick up about 1.5 to 2.0 more mpg. It's merely a by-product of the performance tuning on part-throttle, so your results will depend primarily on how you drive your vehicle, just like before the Superchip.
Basically, you'll get better gas mileage with the Superchip anytime you're not using heavy throttle, is perhaps the best way to describe it.

Just did my first trip with the chip and gibson exhaust. In 401 miles with a lot of towns, stops and 30mph zones I hit 22.02mpg. My best before the mods was 21.5mpg and that was all interstate with only one stop. I bet I will see 23 or 24mpg on the interstate now. Not bad for a truck with an auto. and a V8.
Plus with the firm shifts and extra power it's easy to do lane changes if I get stuck in the wrong one.

Those are some *excellent* mileage numbers all the way around, and some of the highest I've ever seen on these vehicles.
One thing to remember if you've recently installed the Superchip, is that it can take as much as 1500-2000 miles after installing it to see the peak mileage gains from it.
Very nice results indeed, congratulations!
