Cool mileage increase

Finished my first tank with the superchip from Mike. I could tell by my trip meter and the fuel indicator that my mileage had improved. Fill it up, and I got 15.6 mpg, all city driving. That's up 1.0 to 1.5 mpg from my previous 3600 miles of regular fuel. Keep in mind, I have a 5.4 4x4 supercab, pretty heavy truck. I was able to keep my foot pretty light, not going over 2500 rpm but just a couple times. Need to do some long highway drives just to see how that would do. Thanks Mike

But how much money did you save, considering you have to pay ten cents more per gallon?

Cool

Kenster - the Superchips aren't exactly a money saving modification. They are performance chips. Jumpn and I (as have many many other) have seen increases in our fuel mileage. The added cost of premium fuel is not offset by the increase in fuel mileage. However, the use of the Superchips has made my truck much more responsive and it performs better.

I won't even get into the tremendous increase in the Smiles-per-gallon....

If someone is holding back on buying a Superchip because of the extra .20 a gallon for premium gas, in my opinion they shouldn't buy it. Because, no matter what the chip does for their vehicle it would never be enough to compensate for their .20 loss. (fun factor out the window) Just keep it stock. Be happy!

If you get a flip chip with two programs you can have the option of running regular with the shift improvements, or premium.

That's what I have it works pertty well!

I filled my truck up last Monday with super $1.69 gal and took a trip to Foxwoods, its exactly 182 miles round trip from my house in Boston I averaged 70 mph was going as fast as 85 and the truck still had plenty of pep and go(don't trust the factory tires lt245/75/16).Anyways when trip was done I only used 5/16 of a tank or a little more than a 1/4 tank.I couldn't believe the gas milage I got, about 21 mpg pretty good for such a big truck.

Getting better mileage using the Superchip is common and typical anytime you're not using a lot of heavy throttle. It's simply a by-product of the tuning process when the engine is retuned specifically for the use of premium gasoline.

The Superchip was not invented, designed, manufactured, or ever marketed as a device that is going to "save money", and anyone expecting that from it is making an incorrect assumption. In our banner ad here, it does say that improved gas mileage is one of the benefits, simply because it's true; but to stretch that into thinking it's actually supposed to "save money" is not correct, nor do we ever tell people that it's going to "save them money".

It is true that where we are, the very low price delta between regular and premium (10-12 cents) combined with the improvement in gas mileage that we get has in fact literally put money in our pockets (a very small amount of course, but some). We actually spend slightly less money on gasoline using the Superchip with premium gas than we do burning regular without the Superchip. Our gas mileage increases are not any more than anyone else is getting, it's just that we pay only 10-12 cents more per gallon for premium over regular, whereas many other locales have to pay 20 cents more per gallon. Our results here are absolute best case scenario, as I've pointed out many times before, and should not be expected as typical or normal.

The Superchip is a performance chip, designed to improve power, throttle response, & overall driveability. The fact that most people do see an improvement in their gas mileage is icing on the cake in my opinion, and should be regarded as such.

"Jumpn's" results, getting 1.0-1.5 more mpg in the city are excellent. Most people in our experience do not see much of an improvement when driving "in the city". Most people see these improvements primarily when cruising on the highway, and not using heavy throttle, but it is indeed possible to see better mileage even in the city.

Our bests to all,
