Hi 96 4X4,

Yes, the Superhcip sure will help with adding some power, 20 horsepower and 30 lbs./ft. of torque on the 5.0 engine.

When you lift these vehicles, they are of course higher in the air as a result, and that increases it's aerodynamic profile, or coefficient of drag. The vehicle being up higher makes it feel like you have less power, as it takes more power to push that taller vehicle through the air. The engine hasn't actually lost any power, it's load has been increased substantially. Most of the time when people lift their vehicle, they also install taller tires too, and that compounds the situation by effectively changing the rear gear ratio to one that is numerically lower. What that does is force the engine to operate below it's power band, and as a result both performance and mileage suffer noticeably. I see in your signature that you have 33" tires, and that is certainly big enough to be forcing the engine to work below it's normal power band.

There are a number of questions I will need to ask you in some detail, so I would suggest just giving us a call at our number below, and we'll be happy to go over all of this with you in detail, ok?

With regards to which airbox elimination kit to use, both the Airaid and K&N's FIPK kit give the same results, and cost the same, so it gets down to a matter of esthetics, mostly. Some people prefer the power-coated metal airtube used in the Airaid kit, and I must confess that I like it's looks a bit better myself. Basically, either kit will work well, cost the same, and give you the same power gains.

Just give us a shout, and we'll be happy to help!
