Post Superchip - Up Up and Away

Mike,

I just installed my Superchip and WOW! what a tremendous difference in performace already. The installation for me was a little bit more difficult due to the fact that: 1) I had to remove the battery tray due to what appeared to be air suspension regulator valves on the firewall. 2) The air suspension switch mounted by the computer. The air suspension switch was the most difficult to get around, as it is mounted with the lower 8mm bolt of the computers mounting bracket. The conformal coating that you have talked about was indeed very thick, but with the jewelers screwdriver, was easily removed. Now to the performance: the first thing that I noticed was the transmission shifting! WOW! that is worth the price of admission alone. The second telltale sign of engine performance was the engine shift points being elevated to around 5500 RPM -vs- 4500 RPM stock at WOT. Removing the 4500 RPM shift point has really improved the overall performance of the engine as it seems to breath a lot better. I dont have large tires on my truck LT26575R16 but from a standing start I can get the rearend to lockup and smoke the tires for 15 ft while the engine runs for redline Ehhh Haaaaa!. I currently have 150 Miles on the chip install and can feel the gradual improvement in performance. Especially at lower throttle positions, the performance is improving. For those who are sitting on the fence about getting the superchip, I say go for it, as it is the best bang for the buck.

Dear Bigred4X4,

Thanks for an excellent post! I got a good laugh from your thread title, UP, UP & Away. It brought back memories of George Reeves as the original Superman in the first TV series, I think back in the 50's. (Ok, I'm showing my age!) As a matter of fact, A&E just recently did a Biography show about George Reeves, and all about what he had to go thru and the weight of the costume, how hot it was for him on the set, etc.

You're right on the money about those few vehicles that have the air suspension, that switch and the pair of solenoids mounted right three will block your access to the wiring harness "hub" right behind the battery, so on those you do have to remove the battery.

We happy you're enjoying your Superchip, have fun!
