Thumbs up Superchip didn't work at first, but in the end....=)

Hi everyone, i got a little story to tell.

I had purchased my superchip two weeks ago. I took apart my computer to clean it before i installed the chip. I put the chip on, then replaced the computer back into my truck. I tried to turn my truck on, but it didn't. I took the computer apart again, and i cleaned it some more.

95% of the times, the problem with the superchip was that the surface of the computer interface wasn't clean enough. I was one of those other 5%. The problem i had was with the computer itself.

To make a long story short, i sent my computer to superchips, and they were able to fix the problem. And throughout this entire time, i had Mike Troyer helping me out with it. He was giving me advice and recommendations. He was giving me hope when all i wanted to do was get the chip and my computer and throw it in a lake.

Well, my installation time started about two weeks ago, but in reality, when i got my computer back, it took me five minutes to put it all together again. And when i heard that engine purr, it was music to my ears.

Mike, you've got another satisfied customer hear. =)

Your the "s--t"

Thanks,
Nelson

HI Dissonance,

Nice to see you up and running with your Superchip!

For anyone following this thread, this gentleman had one of the computers that had the jumper misconfiguration from the factory, so his jumpers needed to be closed before the external data path circuit could be used. This involves simply closing a pair of jumpers with a drop of solder in most cases, as they were left open by mistake by the supplier of that component. It's fairly rare, affecting so far about 130 or so 1999 Fords, out of all of them that have been Superchipped all across the country so far. But to the person this happens to, it doesn't matter that it's fairly rare, all that matters is that you are up and running, and this is an easy fix.

If there is a moral to this story, it's simply that anytime your vehicle doesn't start with the Superchip installed, there is a reason for it, and it can virtually always be found and corrected easily. So don't get frustrated, hang in there, and if you ever have a problem, make sure to call us so we can go thru all of the possibilities with you, to determine what the underlying problem actually is. In this case, there was no problem with the Superchip (there usually isn't), the jumpers simply had not been closed properly by that component supplier, so it was an easy fix.

Glad to see you smiling once again, DIssonance!

Enjoy your Superchip,
