Thumbs down

If your chip is a Superchips chip, then no. The superchip is made for the computer that's in your truck; it's just for that one computer code. But I do remember reading one of Mikes messages here where "some" codes can be reflashed for a new truck. I wasn't quite sure what he was talking about, it kind of sounded like it could depend on your truck and what configuation of truck you were getting???? On the bright side though, if you put your chip up for sale here, chances are someone would have your same code too. And Mike gives discounts on the purchase of a Superchip through this site.

By crew cab are you talking about the F150 super crew or the F250 Crew Cab???

Dear kmk,

Welcome to F150online!

If you purchase a Superchip for your current F-150, and then you buy a 2001 Super Crew, yes, we can indeed reflash it to your new code. And if it's within 6 months of the date of your original purchase, we'll do that free of charge, too!

As Tina correctly mentioned in her post, some vehicles cannot have the Superchip reflashed and have it work, but with the 2001 Super Crew, it's no problem, as all of the 2001 Super Crews use the same Superchip module so far. V-10 and Powerstroke diesel engines have to use a completely different Superchip module, so those cannot be reflashed from a gasoline engine F-150 to say, an F-350 V-10 or Powerstroke model, but as long as it's as you described, going basically from one F-150 to the new F-150 Super Crew with either the 4.6 or the 5.4 engines, that won't be a problem.

Please feel free to give us a call or email to discuss this in greater detail, and exactly what you would need to do, etc. We can easily make this work for you, and protect your investment in your Superchip.

Dear Tina,

Thanks for helping out above!

I wanted to let you know that certain models can be reflashed, and, as you mentioned, some cannot. If it's for a gasoline engine F-150, going to another F-150, then usually that will work. Superchips in the past would not *allow* that to be done, but they did recently change that policy, and are allowing us to do this where it's mechanically possible, and that is a fairly new development just in the past few months or so. Superchips themselves will not ever reflash an existing Superchip for a new vehicle, but they will allow us to do it for our customers.

The V-10's and Powerstroke diesels of course use a different module, so the regular F-150 Superchip module cannot ever be reflashed to work on either of those vehicles. However, the Superchip module for the V-10 & Powerstroke *can* be reflashed for another V-10 or Powerstroke.

I hope I've managed to make that a little bit clearer than mud!

Just wanted you to know,
