Thumbs up

Dissonance: I think the pipes were 2 1/2 in and 2 1/2 out. Not real sure on that in size. I'm pretty sure on mine that the flowmaster hooked up to whatever was just in front of the old muffler. I only changed from the muffler and back. I chose the flowmaster because I wanted LOUD throaty sounds when I shifted gears. The 2 chambered ones most diffinatly fit that catagory. I wanted something that sounded simular to my husbands harley If you think you want something like that, then get the 40 series. Flowmaster also makes some quiter mufflers that give all the same benifits as this loud one. That's if you think you want something "milder" sounding!! Personally, I really liked the power of the superchip but the flowmaster was what made it FUN!! Oh, one other thought: I used Minekie muffler to buy and install the flowmaster. If you do a search here you will find prices ranging all over the place (high to low) I went with the cheapest route possible, one mandrell bent pipe exiting out in front of right rear tire. Two pipes out will just about double your cost and guess what, it sounds the same. Which was what I was after. Mine cost $116 last year for muffler, pipe and install. Inflation has probably uped that a few dollars but still relatively cheap for a performance muffer system.

Dear Dissonance,

Well, I can't say that there absolutely is not any aftermarket shifter available, but I don't know of one, and I never see one in any of my catalogs from various companies. Hurst lists a unit for both 3 & 4-speed manuals in much older F-trucks, say from the 60's & 70's, but I don't personally know of any units available for the late-model manual-transmission F-150. My wife's 99 Ranger is a 5-speed, with a *terrible* shift linkage & throws, easy to miss 3rd gear if you're not careful and foget any kind of rapid shifting, and nothing is available for that vehicle, either.

If you ever do find one, by all means please let us all know!

Good luck,
