Thank's Mike!! superchip is awsome!!
I recived my superchip today like you said, awsome delivery time.Install was very easy..took about 1 hr..and I had to remove the battery.also I removed the plate that holds the computer(hardest part)and rolled back the lip on plate so the chip and computer would lay flat and there would be no chance of chip shifting out of place I also placed a peice of 2"x7" 200mph tape to secure the chip even more.On the test drive I noticed better acceleration and a much need crisper shift.for those who want to know I installed this in a 2000 f-150 4x4 supercab off road pkg w/5.4 & auto trans 3.55 gears and California emisions,k&n filter charger kit, flowmaster 40 ser with 3in out the rear side, dollar for dollar this is the best upgrade Ive done yet!if anyone is thinking about getting this chip..STOP thinking and get it!! and finaly to those who are worried about a misley little 15-20 cents a galon or 4 bucks a tank maybe the ford f-150 is not the truck for you.
Ah, another satisfied chip owner! Welcome to the 'MATRIX' !!!
I agree...I kept putting the superchip off because I was not sure if it was worth it. All I can say is that *IT IS* and I agree...the extra fuel cost is <more than worth it>...unless you are on a tight budget. The extra $4.00 per tank load is nothing compared to the improvements this chip provides!
Like Mike has always said..this IS the best "bang for the buck"!!

Dear Linedog,
Sounds like you took your time and did a nice neat installation, excellent.
Congratulations on joining the "Superchipped" crowd here on F150online!
As you accumulate the first 500 miles or so, you may notice that it feels a bit stronger, as the computer goes thru it's relearn cycle, that's fairly typical. And once the novelty of a new go-fast part wears off a bit and you're not using a lot of heavy throttle checking out it's new performance, you may also notice that you get a bit better gas mileage as well. Most people are getting about 1.5-2.0 more mpg on the highway, and that helps to offset some of the rather small cost delta to get this performance using premium gasoline.
Actually, the higher gas prices, go, the more financial sense the Superchip makes, because the price delta bewteen regular and premium stays basically the same. When you convert that 10-20 cents per gallon into a percentage, as gas prices go higher and higher that percentage becomes smaller and smaller, and so the Superchip has a better chance of offsetting that cost difference with better gas mileage. It all gets down to how you operate the vehicle the majority of the time.
Have fun, & enjoy your new Superchip!

Hi Linedog,
No, you don't *have* to drive it hard for the first 500 miles, just drive it like you normally do. What we'll usually do right after installation is to go out and drive about 20 miles of varied driving, some low speed, some higher speed, and then a few WOT bursts, just long enough to go thru the full-throttle 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts, say 2 or 3 times. This is just to throw a lot of different stuff at the computer in a short time, to help speed the relearn process just a bit. It's just a technique to get a better immediate result; it won't make any difference in how the vehicle runs 30 days after the Superchip is installed, it's simply a short-term technique, like disconnecting the battery.
You are right in that on an ongoing basis over the life of the vehicle Ford's "adaptive strategy" does cause the computer to adapt itself for the manner in which the vehicle is being operated. So if you drive it conservatively for hundreds or thousands of miles, you may need to give it a couple of WOT bursts to get that last 1%-2% of power back out of it, but that's about it, it's not a dramatic difference. For example, if you're going to take it to the drag strip after a week of conservative driving back and forth to work, we suggest disconnecting the batttery as soon as you get to the strip for a few minutes to once again start the relearn cycle. If the vehicle has been driven conservatively a lot lately, you can usually pick up another tenth or two in the 1/4 mile from doing this. Again, it's a short-term technique.
All in all, the Superchip is going to work all the time, regardless of how you drive the vehicle, so there is no need to drive it hard to "break it in", for example. We'll do a few full-throttle bursts in the first 20 miles or so, but that's about it.

Dear Champ,
You are a good example of exactly why we do what we do here. Being able to select the right parts the *first* time around saves so much money and aggravation, and helps to avoid the "pay to learn" syndrome. That is one of the big values of F150online, and why we try to help provide that information.
I'm so glad to hear that it's working for you, too, that's the way it's supposed to be!
How much weight do you figure you're pulling with that boat & trailer?

Dear Linedog,
I'm sorry to say that the 1996 & later Mopars (Jeep, Plymouth, Dodge, etc.) are our weakest area for domestic vehicle Superchips applications. We don't have it available for that particular vehicle. The Expedition is no problem of course.
I would suggest that you tell your friend to check and see if there is a Mopar Performance Computer available for his vehicle. Mopar has been making "Performance Computers" for some of their vehicles for a few years now, and they are making them for more and more of their vehicles. They do a good job of programming them by the way, so it's a good product, and that is what I would suggest for him. Check at any Mopar dealership in the Parts department, to see if they can order it for that vehicle.
Good luck, and I'm sorry we couldn't help with that 99 Mopar!
