SCT6600 vs. 9100

I have read many posts on the 1715 and the 9100, but have failed to find any on the SCT6600...

Can anyone give a pros and cons review of the SCT6600 vs the 9100?

Thanks LarryX

Hi Larry,

I don't think you're going to see "reviews" from our customers here in this section on the 6600 specifically, for a number of reasons - for example, most of our customers who post here are using the 9100 if they have us do our custom tuning. There might be a grand total of a dozen or so who are using the 6600 that have ever posted here at some point - and I don't think any of them post here with any regularity. The 6600 is also in very short supply right now, and it hasn't existed for very long to being with, so there aren't very many of them out there just yet. There are any number of factors at work here that are most likely going to cause you to not find much, if any, posts "reviewing" the 6600 specifically here. So what you'll see here is primarily the 9100 being used & discussed, as most owners here want the ease of installation of the 9100 - a flash device. Just FYI.

Some general misc. info.................

The 6600 is generally used more by racers (pro or amateur), or by those with more experience modifying vehicles, and/or by those who are doing more involved mods, etc. And of course, those who want 4 custom tunes available instantly on the fly, with the simple turn of a ****, and those who are cost-conscious, who simply want the lowest cost for 4 custom tunes.

Our tuning doesn't change based on which product you use, it's simply the choice of whether you want to use a flash device to deliver the tuning to the PCM (the 9100), or a chip. And if it's to be the chip, then is it going to be a single program chip (5500), or the 4-program chip (6600). None of that has any effect on the actual *tuning*, which is what actually controls your vehicle's powertrain - the hardware is just the messenger, basically.

You can use the search feature to retrieve and read any of the many posts we've made here describing the pros & cons of using a flash device versus chips - that's all been gone over many times before, and we've discussed the 6600 specifically - just retrieve & read those posts with the search feature.

In general, the 6600 is popular with those who want the ability to change programs *instantly*, or who just don't want to have to take 8-10 minutes to change programs by flashing the PCM. And by those who are focused strictly on bang-for-the-buck, it's the most cost effective way to get 4 different custom tunes, for those who don't care about getting a built-in OBD-II code scanner like the 9100 has. Some people like the 6600 for "stoplight encounters" (like changing to one of our "drag race" programs), or who want to use nitrous oxide, or whatever - you can change programs with the 6600 "on the fly," literally while the engine is running. And, with the 6600 you get 4 custom tunes *PLUS* your stock PCM tune available all at the turn of it's program selector **** - so you don't have to spend 6-10 minutes flashing the PCM to change the program.

I know this isn't exactly what you were looking for - just thought I'd share some general info with you (which you may already know), just in case that might help a bit - feel free to call us if you'd like to go over anything in more detail, etc.
