Chip's In
Evening All,
I installed the Superchip this afternoon. I found it easier to access the wiring bundle if I removed the battery and its mount. Installation took just under an hour and was very easy.
Truck restarted with no problems and seems to run smoother now with a definate difference in shift patterns. They now feel more like one would expect a truck to shift.
It makes me wonder why Ford tried so hard to "de-truck" a very good truck in the first place.
Good luck to all,
Bert

Dear qbert,
Congrat's on your install again!
Your comment echos what most people say, that this is the way the vehicle should have come from the factory. Ford won't ever program these truck engines for premium gasoline, as they sell far too many of them as work trucks and their priority is maximum gasoline compatibility across the continent, but they could improve the transmission programming considerably. The transmission shifts like it does from the factory thanks to Ford's "soft-shift strategy", which is done primarily to accommodate the female buyer. And it's not just Ford, I don't mean to sound like I'm picking on them, it's basically all the automakers, even Honda finally went to a soft-shift during 1999.
But you know, it's the combination of what the automakers do and what the vehicles owners want that created the aftermarket many years ago, and it's as strong as ever today, lucky for us vehicles owners! The nice thing is that for a very small relative cost, the overall driveability and performance of these vehicles can be changed and enhanced so much.
Have fun with your new Superchip,
