v6 chip
Hi HBF,
Welcome to F-150 Online!
Most 4.2 V6 owners here tend to come to us for their tuning, as we've specialized in tuning these F-150's for 12 years, and are well known for getting excellent results.
The way to get the info you want is to read the experiences that are already posted here by other 4.2 V6 owners - all that info and more has been posted here by numerous different owners. Once people have posted their results, they generally don't tend to read every new post asking the same basic question that everyone who comes here wants to know, to type out what they've already posted here all over again each time another new person asks the same thing - and we get a lot of that on this highly popular web site, as you might imagine.
Use the search feature's excellent search filters to look up those specific types of posts here instantly - the icon to access the search feature is in the upper right portion of your screen here. The search feature is provided so anyone can have virtual instant access to all the information already posted here - that is by far the best and quickest way to get the exact info you want.
We typically gain 20-25 Hp on those little 4.2 V6's, with 30+ lbs./ft. torque - we also fix the classic 4.2 V6's problem with being "weak" below about 2500 rpm, too. The resulting improvements in both full-throttle performance, and overall driveability at any throttle position are very much appreciated by 4.2 V6 F-150 owners. So you'll not only see nice gains in *peak* power, but also have more power available all the time, at any throttle position or rpm - and have that inherent weakness below 2500 rpm taken care of, too - that will be a thing of the past.
And of course we also remove the top speed limiter, vastly improve the automatic transmission shifting characteristics in automatic models, etc.
You can drop by our web site at the following link, and read up on Part#'s 1100, 5500, 6600 & 9100 - those are the various products that we can provide you with performance tuning in. I *highly* recommend using either the 5500, 6600 or the 9100, as those are more modern 4-bank style tuning products, in which we do our in-depth *custom* tuning (even on bone-stock vehicles) for maximum power and performance gains. I also recommend using a multi-program type of product, so you can run any level octane gasoline you want and get performance gains - most 4.2 V6 owners use the 9100, which is our hand-held programmer that "flashes" your PCM - it's a simple 10 minute plug-n-play installation. Here's the link where you can read up on those items: http://www.troyerperformance.com/cgi...chips%3BFoMoCo
To go over this in more detail, find out just exactly what all we can do for you, all the various options, costs, results, etc,, just give us a call at our number listed below, & we'll be happy to spend some time with you.
Good luck with your truck, & we hope you'll hang out here with us in your spare time!

i can't actually give you #'s cause i didn't do a dyno run, but it's definitely something you can tell seat-of-your-pants wise. i was usually getting around 400 miles per tank (once the low fuel light comes on) before the tuner and now i'm getting around 430 miles(even with the supposed gas guzzling 93 octane max tune). my biggest joy from the tuner was the introduction to low end power that i never had before with my V6
now after the locker, lift, tires i'm ready for a little offroading (still haven't got the lift and tires yet so i'm still waiting). let me know if you need anything else
