My last truck was, of course, chipped
Now I'm just trying to put some miles on the new truck and then I'll be a "return customer"

Dear Snow White,

Welcome to F150online!

The Superchip adds 25 horsepower and 31 lbs./ft. of torque to the 4.2 V-6 in the F-150. If you have an automatic transmission, it will also firm up the shifts. Removes the top speed limiter as well.

Give me a call if you would like more details, I'll be happy to go over all the specifics with you.

Finally put my chip in yesterday, and have driven about 1/2 tank since. I bought it about six months ago, but had the 'no start' problem (Code DQE2), and couldn't do without my truck to mail the computer away. Soldered the circuit board yesterday (my previous attempt a few months back failed).

I love the shifting! Just right. Shifts smooth when cruising, medium firm when accelerating with some vigor, and nice and crisp at full throttle.

Power is noticeably better. I accidently baked a tire making a right turn at medium throttle. Never had to worry about that before!

Dear Dirt Bike Dave,

Glad to hear you're up and running with your Superchip! It's amazing what those "little" V-6's can do when properly programmed, isn't it?

If you happen to track your fuel mileage closely, we'd love to hear back your results on that too. That is, after you get used to is, as the first couple of weeks it might go down due to heavy throttle usage checking out your new power! But after that settles down, if you happen to track it, we'd love to hear your results.

Have fun,

Mike - I calculate my mileage every tank, so any improvement will be apparent.

Right now, just the better shifting and power are worth the cost of the chip. Any mileage improvement is a bonus! I got my truck for $1,800 less than a similarly equipped 4.6 Triton, and now I figure I've got similar power to a stock Triton & better shifting. My buddy has a stock '97 4.6, with a Supercab/auto. I'll have to talk to him about a friendly street race.

One question for you, Mike - I checked my odometer on a test strip, and stock it was 6.7% slow. I think this is because the vehicle was 'upgraded' with the 255/70/16 tire package w/out reprogramming the computer. Does the chip alter my odometer in any way, or will it read exactly the same as before?

Deaar Dirt Bike Dave,

Good question! No, the Superchip will not affect your odometer. It's most likely that your change in tire size is the culprit with your odometer being off, and if the odometer is off, so is the speedometer, of course.

If it's in your favor and not much over 5%, I wouldn't worry about it, but that is of course up to you.

Superchips does have the ability to correct the speedometer and odometer error (it's the same function) in some computer codes. It's a custom program, and they charge $125 to do this. If you feel you might like to have this done, just give me a shout.

Have fun,

Dear Mama's V-10,

You're having a blast with that big van and it's V-10, aren't you? Shame on you, picking on those Chevies like that!

Have fun!

Got mine for Christmas. And, yes, the sticker does add to the numbers, especially when it's on the back pushing the van and taunting the Chevies. Thanks again, Mike.
