Dear Mjordan,

No, the only vehicle that there are differing levels of power output Superchips for are the Powerstroke diesels. That big honkin' 460 gas motor you have there will pick up 25 horsepower and 45 lbs./ft. of torque from the Superchip.

No, your ignition will not affect the Superchip, nor will side-gapped plugs.

You can do your proposed mods in any order you like. We suggest that you do one thing at a time, so you can get a good feel for just what each change did for you, but that's just a suggestion.

Feel free to give me a call if you'd like to discuss any of this, Mike!

Dear Tina,

We often install ours before we even leave the dealer's lot, but in general, I think it's a good idea to have 500 miles or so on your new vehicle. That way, at least you know there are no immediate and serious problems with your new vehicle that might need to be addressed under warranty before you start hot-rodding it.

Hope you had a great Christmas,

thanks Mike: Hope you had a merry Christmas too. It was great here but I'm still waiting on my truck. SOON I hope!! It shouldn't take me to long after I get it to put a few miles on it and then I'll be getting up with you. So if there's a Christmas or New Years Special on that chip, please hold one out for me!! I'm also looking into a pyro guage; just because it's cool, you know!! I might even put some other gauges in there too!!

Hey Mike: I like that, repeat customer!!
Ok, is there anything else I should know about the standard chip?? Does it install the same way as the one on my F150 did?? No other parts with it or needed?? Except duct tape to secure it.

Question

Mike I've ran across something else I've got questions about. It has to do with a boost tube. These guys were talking about the boost tube and their service engine light coming on when they went WOT. To much air flow or something. I couldn't understand if this boost tube came with the chip or if I had to get one or if I needed one!! Can you straighten me out (again)???

Hi Tina,

Great question! For all 1999 & later Powerstrokes, the Superchip includes the boost tube, which is necessary to raise boost. This is only true of the 1999 & later Powerstrokes, as they got an intercooler for the turbocharger starting with the 1999 model year. The 1995 thru 1998 Powerstrokes don't have this, and so they don't need the boost tube. It's very rare to have a check engine light come on, but if it does on your Powerstroke with the Superchip, it's usually a simple program adjustment.

Now with regards to the Superchip itself for the Powerstrokes, all of that is the same as far as appearance and installation as your first Superchip, except the Powerstroke Superchip is gold instead of blue.

Mike, thanks!!
Gold huh??? we're talking real gold, not just paint Right!!!
I've got 800miles on, I'm thinking the magic number is 1k so heads-up on me calling by the end of this week The truck's running great, no fuel crackle or anything. This past weekend I got it out on interstate and floored it. Well, I didn't floor it until I was already doing 70mph!! It still had a lot of get up left and I was able to get it up to just over 97mph. That's as fast as it would go. Rode like we were only doing 60, smooth. Checked the fuel milage and I'm getting 18.4, I'm hoping that will improve
