99 F150 vs Other Trucks
The Ford beat them all except for empty acceleration and then only lost to Toyota by .1 second. Notice how that Toyota dies when you drop 1000 pounds on it? Their commercial appears to be all lies to me.

Mike, I didn't pay any attention to the sticker. I just wanted to see what it looked like. I still don't think it's a full sized truck.

Good call, Bill. I got to reading your post and took another look at specs. The "Toy" (literally) is shorter by 10 inches (wheelbase), 7 inches shorter overall length, 3 inches slimmer, and about 1 inch shorter than the nearest competitor's measurements. Interior is comparable to everybody elses. The cargo bed is smaller than the rest and the base payload (1924lbs?!?!) is second to Chevy (1965lbs)?!?! The GVWR is tied in last place with Chevy at 6200lbs. Also, the max trailer rating is the least at 7200lbs, 600lbs less than the next competitor (Ford has highest rating at 8600lbs). It is the lightest weighing at 4480lbs.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm confused as to how a truck that is obviously smaller, in every aspect, can compete with any of these 3 other vehicles. Something, in my opinion, is not quite right. Maybe I'm wrong. You be the judge. Like I said earlier, I still think this is another feable attempt by Toyota to compete in the truck market (my opinion). I not picking fights with any Toy fans, owners, etc. Just presenting the facts and calling it how I see it.
54regcab, I haven't been on any lots lately, but I wouldn't doubt you for a minute. The more I read into it and think about it, this whole thing is questionable...

54regcab, that's what this article says. The Ford weighs 4720lbs. Did they actually weigh yours or guess. I know here in Ohio, they wanted to put my old Ranger in the same class as an F-150. Tells you how good they are at paying attention. They also put my Harley down as a Honda on the registration! Anyway...

Mike, I had to go to Office Max a bit ago and stopped by the Toyota place. The trucks they have have 3.916 axles.
(3.73 Ford/3.92 Toy = .95)
1.00 - .95 = .05
The Toyota in this mags comparison has a 5 percent tow gear advantage.
In my case with the highway gears 3.08 the Toyota would have a 21.35 percent tow axle advantage. That's bound to be how they came up with their commercial.

Just test drove a Toyota Tundra and would like to report that it is no toy truck.
The 4.7 v8, while strangley not quite as responsive as my 4.6, is a beast.
This thing has no problem laying rubber, and while my 4.6 is a little torquier off the line, after that it's game over.
The 4.7 Tundra will smoke a 4.6 Triton, sorry to say.
Now I realize that my truck only has a 3.08 rear end versus the Tundra's 3.92, but even a 4.6 w/3.55 gears wouldn't stand a chance with the Tundra.
Either way wouldn't trade my truck for no Toyota or any another, except perhaps a 5.4?!

I'm kinda skeptical myself about the Tundra's claim, specially after having a run-in with one. About 4 weeks ago i was at stoplight when this lowered Tundra pulled up next to me and started revving his motor, when i looked over he was giving me the thumbs down and was egging me to run!! Well that got me kinda riled up and decided to see what he's got under that hood, listening to his engine while he was revving it, the only noticeable sound that i could hear was the exhaust system. So as the light turned green i got on it!!! needless to say from standing start to 100 he never caught me and as far as i can tell from my side mirrors he was about 2-3 car lenghts. Once my speedo reached 100 i backed off, and when he caught up to me he was asking me to pull over so we could talk. As i cautiously got out the truck i could tell that he was pretty ticked off!! he asked me which motor i had and what mods have i done to it, he even asked me to pop the hood for him so he can look at the engine. Once he saw the 5.4 logo and air intake system thats when the excuses started to fly, "oh my engine is not quite broken in yet with 7k on it, even though i put these TRD(Toyota Racing Development) mods (headers, intake system, catback exhaust) on it, the engine is not up to its potential" so with a s*#t eating grin on my face i responded " well don't feel too bad my truck only has 14k in it so its not quite broken in either, so when your motor is broken in just look for me in this part of town and maybe you can try again"!! and his last response was "don't worry i'll be ready for you next time", so i said "you better be ready, cuz i don't want to hear any excuses". Mike, can you imagine what i'll do to that Tundra once i get my superchip and my 4.10 in!! To be continued.....
