2000 4.6 chips available?
Are the superchips for the 2000 4.6s available? Did the program change any from the previous years since the 4.6 now has the coil on plug system (in case a used chip pops up in my code)?
thanks

Dear Fritzthecat,
Welcome to F150online! I'd love to have a copy of the original "Fritz the Cat" movie, what a great nickname! (I'm showing my age now!)
There are Superchips available for some of the 2000 F-150's already, it will simply depend on your computer code, like before. However, no used Superchip from any other model year will work in your vehicle, it will have to be from another 2000 F-150 just like yours, with the same code, as you probably already realize. I do always encourage peoople here to pick up on the great bargains that buying a used Superchip can represent, when people trade their vehicles in. But I rather doubt that we'll be seeing any used Superchips for 2000 F-150's popping up here anytime soon.
So far, the 2000 Fords have been responding in the same manner as the 1999's. Some of the Powerstroke diesels are done, there are soem of the 4.6 and 5.4 V-8 F-150's already done for 2000, and of course more will get done as time passes. If you want to email me your computer code, I can let you know whether or not a Superchip has been amde for your vehicle yet, if you'd like to know. Look in the passenger door, near the door hinges for your code sticker, 3 letters and a number. Some examples of 2000 F-150 codes are ATC2, BIK3, etc.
All the best, and congratulations on your new 2000 F-150!

Dear fast46triton,
They change those codes every year, and constantly throughout each model year too, with ongoing updates. For example, the same identical vehicle may have a dozen or more different computer codes throughout the course of just one model year. Different functions will be in different memory address locations; for example, the top speed limiter may be in a different place, or the transmission upshifts may be in a different location, etc., so this is why it's so important to program these vehicles code-specific like Superchips does.
Just to give you an idea, sometimes these updates will be for an issue of idle quality; sometimes it will be for low-speed driveability, or you name it. These different codes do not affect the power output of the engines, so there is no advantage to having your computer reflashed by the dealer unless it's an absolute must for some other issue.
