Post Off The Line - Victorys & Defeats

Finally found a willing 1999 Dodge Ram: black Sport model, SC, SB 4x4 318 cu in 3.91 LS.

He was impressed with the little 4.6 Triton V-8! Have spoken to him casually before so I knew what he had.

Pulled him immediately from the line about 1 length and by 60 mph it was 2 lenghts + and pulling away. He claimed I should also beat a similarly equipped 360 cu in ......?
Only time will tell.

Glad to see you win another race now you should have raced for pink slips and take the dodge from and trade it in for a 2nd ford truck.

Went to the track a couple of weeks ago and Spanked my buddy's ZX2. 17.53 to 17.59 and 17.49 to 17.76. Unfortunatly he did a couple of mods and reset the ecu and now runs 17.0's and 16's. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

We've been talking to the guys at ZX2.com, and you have to watch out for some of those Escorts! I think it's a riot that you were beating them with that big truck, that's funny.

No telling what we'll see a member's F-150 do next, is there?

Have fun,

good job Dunbarton! I knew you could do it! I beat a bigger displacement truck before! It was a 1995 ford f150 reg cab, short bed, 5.0.
I had him by 3 car lengths!

That rams bigger engine will not make up for the fact that it's a 4x4 against your 4x2, don't think any brand could pull that off.

MRBBQMAN,

That's why I bought a 4x2, heh, heh...... don't need a 4x4 and they give away another 300/400 lbs. Don't know what he weighed for sure but it's more than me.

Hey Dunbarton,

Figure that between the Superchip and the Airaid unit, you probably knocked close to a second off your 1/4 mile times, and that's going to show in street games too, of course. Between that and the fact that you're a 4X2, you can probably fool more then a few unsuspecting opponents.

An F-150 can be a "sleeper" too!

Cool

Tonight someone blasting the rap music pulled beside me revving the engine of thier Pontiac Grand Prix.
After I stopped laughing I decided to entertain him.
Light turned green.
I let him keep up till about 35 and then put foot down.
It was all over.
It was pretty cool to embarass him in front of his girlfriend.

Well this one is the worst.
I was in my poS-10 and was following my wife in the truck. I tried to pass her on a back road. I NEVER MADE IT PAST THE REAR BUMPER , she said that she was watching me and was loving every minute. Can't wait till the truck is payed for so I can get my COBRA convertible then lets try that again!!

Cool

Hey fellow Ford Extremes.

Had a nice drive home tonight or morning(2:00 am). Stopped at a light and started to play with the radio to find a good song. I look over to see a 96 to 98 model chevy full-size ext-cab pickup. Not thinking much of it I keep surfing for a good song. Well the light turns green and I take off with no intention of a race (For some reason I don't get too many people wanting to race), but this guy guns it. So I hit the gas (hello head rest). Well the chevy got me by about half a truck length by the time I get going, so I decide I'll just make sure he doesn't get away, but the Ford has other ideas. At about 40 I realize that I'm passing this guy. At 60 I get that all to familiar smile and snicker that we are all so use to. At 80 this chevy is reading my license plate. Coming up to a 100 bam I hit the rev limiter and shut my baby down. As I do I see him coming up fast and it seems as if he is going to buzz by. That's cool since I feel as if I have proven who's best. Well he goes by and gets about 400 yard in front of me when all the sudden MR. LAW starts a U turn right in front of me to catch that nasty chevy. I slow and watch as he gets pulled over with even a bigger smile and loud laugh. As I pass I find Joe Walsh's Life's Been Good To Me on the radio and cruise on home.

Boy this just made my week! First time I'm glad I haven't got that limiter fixed with my superchip.

As some of you may know, "Little Dunbarton" recently bought his own new F150 (whew! no more "Dad, can I use your truck tonight?"). It's a '99 4x4 SB RC XLT 4.6 liter auto.

He beat his buddy's '99 SD 5.4 4x4 recently and casually mentioned to me "Mine feels quicker than yours." Well, this is a subtle challenge that won't go unanswered some day but hasn't happened yet. So, this will be content for a future "Off the Line" posting when and if it happens.
