Superchip Sales
To our Webmaster, and all others as well:
I was glad to see Steve's post, and his quotes from his earlier posts, where he dealt with *all* of this in a timely and fair, professional manner, at least IMHO.
I think it was quite appropriate, so hopefully all of this will tone down. And yes, I include myself in this, as the *last* thing I ever want to do is to interfere with the exchange of information that takes place here. We have worked hard to bring new participants to F150online, and will continue to do so. We want F150online to thrive and grow! We will also continue to try and find new ways to help support the site, when and where possible. I feel we are obligated to do this, and I have always felt this way.
And yes, Steve had previously communicated to me in no uncertain terms his exact policies, etc., which we will always adhere to. For any angst anything I have said may have caused anyone, that was not my intention.
With respect for all,

I'm going to sneak in here for a few seconds as I too have had some concerns about normal postings versus business building ones.
As many of you know, I mentioned that I own a large HobbyTown USA store, we deal in Radio Control models and plastic and die cast models as well. I mentioned that I had replicated my White Lightning with a 1/10 scale RC truck put out by one of the well known manufacturers.
Several Lightning owners inquired if I could supply a similar vehicle to them, and it has sort of grown a bit like topsy since then. Not megabucks by far, maybe 20 to 30 units at a price not far above my cost.
Still, I felt a bit guilty and have contacted Steve to set up a banner thingie like Mike, which I will of course pay for, and I will also give f150online a small but reasonable commission on any items I sell from people who use this board. This as support for the board.
On the other hand, I think Mike, and I sincerely hope that I also, have tried to make our best efforts to contribute to the general content and purpose of f150online.
I haven't clocked my total postings lately, but it should be in the hundred plus area and maybe a dozen or so of these dealt with R/C or models or whatever which would be commercial in nature. I haven't clocked Mike's total postings, nor Sal's nor a few others who in one way or another end up selling some stuff here, but I know I have had "conversations" with both gentlemen over a wide range of subjects that did not deal with their wares and both have been extremely helpful to my decision making process on taking care of or modifying my personal truck.
Dang, another 10 dollars worth. I don't know if I helped or hurt the discussion of the subject, but wanted to get it off my chest.

We all get too serious sometimes. Do sort of miss Dantheman sometimes though. He was really a sort of off the wall type.
Hope you and yours have survived all the past/present and soon to come tropical storms down your way. We finally have a real SouEaster here in Atlanta. First rain/lightning/thunder in almost 3 months. I assume it is off the storm from the Florida Gulf. Don't really know.

Dear Bill Murray,
Great post! I'm just tickled pink that you are going to do a banner ad as well! I particularly liked you idea of giving a "commission" to F150online for sales that come thru that portal, that's an *excellent* idea! Maybe you and I should talk about this privately, I might like to do something similar, or along those lines as well.
By the way, I don't think there's any doubt that you have added value here in your posts as well. You and I have had several ongoing discussions that invoked a lot of participation, and that is what this site is all about, the exchange of information.
Our bests to all,
Good man!

HOW REFRESHING!!! It reminds me of the old days, when you could have a good fist fight over something or nothing and when it was all over you could set down on the tailgate and have a cold one(Coke HA-HA)shake hands and move on. Another good reason I'm proud to be a member here.
Good fortune to all and GOD BLESS!!!!

I think anyone who reads those threads will see that Steve Eppinger, the Webmaster, has taken the appropriate steps to insure that everyone is welcome here, and that *nobody*, and I mean *NOBODY*, gets any kind of preferential treatment. The mere thought that anyone would ever think that Steve would show anyone preferential treatment would I'm sure make the Webmaster's blood boil! The online ordering form that you now see in a banner ad is just that, a paid advertisement! Just like A.R.E, Compaq, and anyone else who has ever advertised here, we have done the same. It isn't a requirement, we didn't have to spend that money. Frankly, it will *not* increase our sales one iota! We have gotten many requests from particiapnts here to have an online ordering capability, and we have finally been able to honor those requests. Also, it helps to show everyone that we are visibly contributing to this web site, something that is very important to me. I have worked very hard to make sure nobody could ever get the impression that we are here just "for the money". I have dedicated the rest of my life to helping my fellow man as best I can, which is one of the reasons why we donate all profits to charity! We aren't here getting rich, we don't see a dime personally, it all goes to charity.
So when you're keeping score, you might want to give some thought to the fact we have done our dead-level best to prove by words, actions, & deeds that we are here to *contribute* to the ongoing success of this web site, and not just popping in to "take the money and run". I think that perhaps this is the most important distinction of all. Nothing has been given to us. We have not received any preferential treatment of any kind here, at any time. I didn't just show up here, and post something like "I have something to sell, everyone come buy from me" and line my pockets. People aren't stupid, and certainly not the participants here. People who have been here for any length of time have a pretty good grasp of what's "going on" here, and everytime one of these "controversies" happens, it makes our phone ring just that much more. This wouldn't happen if people didn't generally feel that we are here trying to *contribute* to this site. We are constantly getting, and I mean every single day, email after email from F150online participants, thanking us for our participation here.
The message boards here are for everyone's benefit. And banner ads are for sale to any reputable company.
I have to tell you that I honestly don't know how we could possibly do more, either for F150online, or for our fellow man, but I'm open to any intelligent suggestions on how we can do more than we have.
Some days.......

Mike,
If you paid for the ad space on F150online.com, that's fine. But you still don't have any more right to post ads on the message board than anyone else.
---
The only point I am making is that this person was told not to blatantly post an advertisment, when it seems that Mike T has done just that in the past (with the How To Order Your New Superchip), with no reprocussions. To me, that topic *IS* a blatant advertisement.

Hey Steve:
It was one of those typical N. GA. type deals. We live right under Kennesaw Mountain and quite often get these mini-storms that don't reach downtown area. We had about 2 hrs. of 30mph wind, a ton of rain and lots of thunder & blixten. Then the sun came out again.
If you can arrange to somehow meet me at the store, we can review materiel that will work for setting up the banner thingie. Give me a call at 770-426-8800.
