Post Post your 1/4 mile improvement from Superchip

Does anyone have actual 1/4 mile improvements that they can post resultant from the Superchip? Not SOTP, the old butt meter is more than often incorrect.

Dear NAscarBill,

Originally you posted a 74 mph trap speed with an ET of 18.39 stock, and 78 mph with an ET of 17.42 with the Superchip, for a gain in trap speed of 4 mph, and a reduction in ET of .97 seconds, or almost a full second. Also, you originally posted a temperature of 96 degrees, with humidity of over 80%.

Are these some different runs, made at a different time, perhaps?

Just curious,

Yes, sorry. The 18.39 was run at 97degrees as was the 17.42. The 17.39 was run at 87 degrees, but with 1/2 a tank full of 89 octane the wife put in it . So, I should be even better on my next outing. And I misprinted the 1st mph, should have been 76 mph.

NascarBill,

That's quite an improvement. Do you have to run premimum fuel now with the chip? Did you have good traction on both before and after chip and were you able to punch it full throttle from zero before and after? A second seems like an awful lot of improvement.

Yes, Premium fuel is mandatory with the Superchip. If not spark knock will occur.
With my heavy (i guess 4600lbs) supercab, chip or no chip, I get no tire spin at the dragstrip. I leave at 2000 rpm.

NascarBill:

You got to watch Mike, he has some sort of evil eye/spy in the sky browser that automatically scans all input related to chips back to '83/'84 and brings it up on his screen. He's caught me several times.

Dear Nascar Bill,

OK, thanks for setting me straight, because I've been using those numbers! Still, a .97 second improvement is nothing short of amazing, great result!

Thanks for your data,

Dear LarryS,

Yes, premium gasoline is required with any performance chip. This nice thing about the Superchip, and this is exclusive to the Superchip alone, is that it works at *all* throttle positions, so this allows a lot of our customers to get considerably better fuel mileage when cruising, and even when not cruising. We've had F150online members post anywhere from 1.5 to 3.5 more mpg on the V-8 F-150's with the Superchip.

It's just a by-product of the optimized spark advance curves on part-throtle, so everyone's results will vary according to their driving conditions and local fuel quality. Any reformulated fuel will deliver 8%-10% worse fuel mileage, with or without the Superchip.

Didn't mean to "butt in", just trying to give you some info from other F150online members using the Superchip.

All the best,

Thumbs up

JUST READ THE SIGNATURE BELOW! Went just a few weeks ago and made it to the third round of eliminations, didn't do as well this time because man it was a hot day. I flinched at the light and froze so my reaction time stunk and I couldn't catch the guy by the finish line. BUT, earlier in the day I did go against a brand new ford lightning and I beat him, he did back off I'm certain. He wouldn't even talk to me afterwards, I think I must have scared him, getting of the line faaster than him and still running with him half way down. I'm sure he could have beat me if he TRIED! Sometimes its about whos are bigger huh! Anyways, if you just do a few mods (especially the chip0 it sure is sweet looking at all the doubting faces after a run or two down the strip.

As far as gas mileage improvement: I noticed about a 2.5 m.p.g. improvement on the highway with the SuperChip installed on my '98 4.2L automatic.

We recently took a trip to Austin, Tx., (about 200 miles from here) at an average speed between 75 and 80 mph. Prior to the SuperChip, the truck would get about 15.5 mpg at that speed, with the chip installed mileage improved to 18.1 mpg. Now that ain't bad for a full size pickup at those kinds of speeds.

The overall performance improvement is remarkable. It feels similar to the type of improved performance one used to get by upgrading a 2v carburetor to a 4 barrel and adding dual exhaust.

Slipping in the Superchip on the back of your computer is a lot easier than scraping your knuckles on a hot intake manifold while trying to adjust fuel mixtures.

Hey Beachdoc,

Great mileage gains! Thanks for posting and letting us know. They will probably be even higher when you're not doing 80 mph!

Jeff's Lightning: Fantastic job! Knocking off a half-second and adding 4 mph to your trap speed, I'd say that your Superchip is doing the job on that beautiful supercharged 5.4 Lightning! YAHOO!

Enjoy, and keep that data coming guys & gals,
