Superchip question.

Can I get a Superchip that leaves the rev limiter or at least move it up a little bit but still keep it? The top speed governor can go, but I like not having to worry about over-reving my engine.

Hi PM,

That's exactly how that is done anyway, that's SOP - nobody (aside from destructive testing & a few oddball racing situations aside, perhaps) completely removes an engine's ultimate protection - we don't want the motor to grenade any more than the vehicle owner does, you're absolutely right!

You can have us remove the vehicle's speed limiters, but never remove a rev limiter entirely - that's a bad move in anyone's book, to be sure.

Sometimes people get confused and think a "rev limiter" and a "speed limiter" are the same thing (they aren't, as you obviously already know), but anyone who knows the difference doesn't want their engine's protection removed altogether. In those vehicles where the engine's rev limiter actually needs to be raised (and a lot don't need this anyway with stock cams), it's generally only raised a little bit - a few hundreds rpm, just whatever is actually required for the specific application.

Give us a call if you want to go over this in detail, we're happy to set it up however you want it done - we'll of course suggest what should be done for your exact vehicle, modifications (if any) and how it's being used, then from there it's your choice in a custom tune.

I am saving money to do a lot of modifications to my truck, and I think that one of the first things that I will do is get a Superchip. I'm definitely going to go with Troyer Performance when I buy, but it's a matter of me having enough money to upgrade at one time.

Hi PM,

We all have budgets we have to live within!

If I understand your post correctly (and I may well not, as I'm not sure if you mean you'll be doing things one at a time, or whether you are trying to save up to do a lot of things at once), just a quick tip here............ don't feel that you have to do all or even most your mods at once, just in case that may be what you're thinking - most people do 1 or 2 things at a time - or 3 things at a time, like our Stage 1 kit, for example - just as they can afford them.

It might help you to know more about what types of modifications affect tuning and what types do not, in case you're thinking that you have to do all your mods at once so as not to have to pay more later on to have your tuning updated, etc.

This is just a quick FYI............if you want to get more up to speed on this, feel free to call us at our number listed below.

You can also take a look on our web site over at www.TroyerPerformance.com - click on "Shop" once the home page loads, and then you'll see all the individual sections, like Intake, Exhaust, Ignition, Superchips Custom Tuning, etc. - also spend some time looking over the Performance Packages section, where we have Stage 1 all the way thru Stage 5 kits available for those who *are* in a position to do a number of modifications at one time, and want the best possible package pricing to reflect larger purchases at one time.

Good luck with your truck & your budget!

Hi Poter,

Those who care to have our expertise and get the best in the business will come to us already by virtue of our enviable reputation - one that we have worked so very hard to achieve - and no more will be drawn in by us doing toll-free yet again. That only caused us to darn near go broke each time before when we did that. So it's already been proven time and again that us having toll-free does *not* help our sales at all.

We're not IBM, we're not Jeg's or any other know-nothing mail-order shop, and we're not Shop At Home Network selling cheap-crap $7 bracelets for $99, etc. - we're just us.

We feel it's *far* more important to stay in business so that we're here to support our paying customers - we do the best that we can, which includes providing a lot of financial support to this web site so that it remains available for all of us to enjoy free of charge.

It's very simple - anyone that can't afford to call us sure as heck can't afford to buy anything from us to modify their vehicle for more performance.

As these message boards are packed with posts attesting to, one of the best performance bargains any one will ever get in these vehicles is the few cents it costs to call us.

We already do more for people free than anyone else we know of in this business - more we just can't do, my friend, I'm very sorry.

I wish you the best of luck in school, and with your truck!
