Changing Speedo on a 98?

I just went from stock to 265/75/16 tires on my 1998 and instead of having the comp reprogrammed, I figured I'd just save up a little and buy a tuner. But the superchips tuner says tht it will only reprogram the speedo on 99+ vehicles. What gives?

on the 98 all you have to do is go to Ford and buy a new gear that goes in the transmission for the speedometer. It takes about 5 minutes to change..hope this helps..

I got mine from Steeda.com. Type speedometer in the search block. I needed the white one with an 8 tooth drive gear for the 4r70w. It's $15.95 + $5.95 shipping. If you need the big one like I did buy 2 because they wear fast. Good Luck!
