Bought the CHIP and rec'd an education

I called yesterday to order the Superchip for my 4.2L V6...talked to Mike T., and was extremely impressed...he really knows his stuff.

He took my computer code and walked me through various aspects of the programs, and we worked together to develop the most appropriate programming for both my truck and my personal driving habits...what a great experience.

I can't wait to get the chip, and the next agenda will be an Air Force 1 air kit and an underdrive pully...both suggested and identified by Mike...makes sense, too. Might even go with the electric fans...as Mike said, if you can't create more horsepower, you can redirect where it goes!

Best purchase experience in a long while...thanks

If the chip works half a good as I think it will, it will be worth every penny

Hi David,

Thanks, that's very kind of you to say.

I can look at the stock program in every detail and find all of it's issues that are hurting it's performance. - so when we have someone call, I can go over just exactly what is really going on in their stock factory program to begin with, as that tells us a good bit about just what we can achieve in a good custom tune.

Now in your case, your XAZ4-code 4.2 V6 is what we call a very poor factory tune, as it can't ever even get into open loop no matter how long you stay at full-throttle, and it's a bit tricky in it's implementation - for example, in the first place most look at, it has a 15 second delay to go open loop, which is far too long - that can and will be reduced by a very large amount of course, but even that will not solve the real problem - because on top of that rather obvious 15 second delay, it also requires a TP so high that you could never achieve it, thus it can't ever go open loop with it's stock factory tune. So it should gain a pant-load from the custom tune we'll be giving it - it won't be a rocketship of course, but it sure will feel a lot better - it should feel like it has a V8 under the hood by comparison.

(And just to be clear for others reading this post, it must be mentioned that this is *not* any kind of "knock" on whoever at Ford did that powertrain program, and I want to be clear about that - Ford's people are indeed very sharp, and there is no doubt whatsoever that he/she could easily have done a better job on that calibration in terms of the vehicle's performance - but was not allowed to by Ford due to other considerations. And thanks to "EngineGoBoom" for reminding all of us about that from time to time!)

Thanks for all your time as well, it's enjoyable for me to go over in that kind of detail just what the problems are in a particular code, we can do and what should be done based on the vehicle's configuration, location, how it's used, etc.

I should have your custom tune done in the next day or two, and then get it right out on it's way to you.

Thanks for your post & have fun,
