Aftermarket Microtuner?!
Aftermarket Microtuner?!
I've got a buddy who's got an 02' GT and recently purchased a Hypertech power programmer and modifed his computer system with it. He then went to Ford for a Service light problem and decided to reset his computer to factory settings. Ford VOIDED his computer warranty because thewy said that even though he set it back, they could still tell it had been changed. Is this true on all Ford CPU's?! If so, I don't want to buy one of these and get screwed down the road!! PTroyer, please help and anyone else!
I call BS.... Ford cannot Void his warranty unless they can prove that it has damaged something. They cannot arbitrarily just say "we void your warranty". If they did, I would call FOMOCO or get a lawyer.

Hi SWAMPR,
Well, there is no flash counter in the PCM. I really can't answer as to what actually happened there, but I do agree with rbraughn's response - something isn't right, or there's more to the story. The bottom line is, it's illegal to void a warranty without there being a direct causal relationship between the aftermarket part and a parts failure - that's the law, under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. You can read all about it over at www.sema.org
