? for Mike
? for Mike
Hi Mike, First I would like to thank you and Anita for sending me the black coupling boot for my AF1 power pipe.
I have been reading some of the threads and someone is using a 4# lower pulley with a 1715 Micro Tuner. I dicussed that with you on the phone back in May and you said I would have to go the chip route. Is there an updated tuner that does this? If so can I sent mine back to be upgraded?
On another note I ran a 13.358 @ 105.600mph with just the AF1 and Tuner on stock F1's.
Thanks,
Peter

Hi Peter,
Nice to see you again!
Glad to hear you got the black boot. We asked AF1 to change that (it was originally blue to match the color of the air filter element), and we had them send us extra for everyone that had ever purchased those units from us so we could send one out to everyone. Some people asked for it, most didn't - we sent everyone a black boot just in case they might want it.
You're absolutely right - back in May, we told you & everyone else at that time that in order to run a raised boost pulley, you would not be able to use the then-current 1715 Micro Tuner, that you would need to use the traditional Superchip module instead - this was due to the requirement for custom tuning for the pulley - that has just recently changed, as there is a new 1715 released just a few weeks ago that has many more programs in it - including a program for Lightning & Harley owners that want to run a 4 PSI pulley.
Previous 1715's cannot be upgraded to this capability - the new 1715 is a completely different design internally, allowing for multiple programs for each individual vehicle - it has to hold almost 4000 programs now as compared to the original 1715, which holds about 1200 programs. There is completely different circuitry, different density memory chips, etc., etc., so there is just no way to change a previous 1715 to get the capabilities of the new unit, as it's a *hardware* change.
Sounds like it's running very well, glad to hear you made it out to the track & put some runs down!
If you decide you want to get into the raised boost pulley and the new Micro Tuner, give us a call & we'll make you the best deal we possibly can - if that is of interest to you.
And in the meantime, best of luck & good seeing you again!
