Mike T Octane ?

Mike,

Now that I've ordered my Tuner from
you. I've been checking out the local gas stations for Octane ratings. I know you like Sunoco 94 Octane. And I do have a couple of Sunoco stations within 3 miles of my house. But almost every gas station in my area has 93 Octane gas. Exxon(which I know you don't like) Texaco Mobil, Getty, Amoco, and a host of "no name" brands (also you don't like) all have 93 Octane.

This being the case, would you still reccomend Suoco 94? Is there a big differance between 93 Octane and 94 Octane? I thank you in advance for your opinion.

Bill

Hi Bill,

Yes, I would still recommend using the Sunoco Ultra 94 octane, as you usually don't pay any more for it over any other top-shelf 93 octane premium.

Anyone that has such easy access to the wonderful Sunoco Ultra 94 should use it all the time, IMHO.

Here locally, Citgo has been the best 93 octane premium gas for about the past 2-3 years or so. Then we got a Sunoco, which has 93, but does not have their Ultra 93. SO right now, I;m using Sunoco 93 octane, and my high-boost Lightning likes it just fine. It also runs fine on our local Shell 93 octane & Citgo 93 octane, but it gets just a tad better fuel mileage on the Sunoco. Thus it has a slightly higher energy content, so I use it, as it's "the best" we can get here.

I'm a fuel quality nut, so anytime someone has access to Sunoco Ultra 94 and is using a performance chip or programmer, we advise using that 94 octane.

Best of luck whatever you decide!

OK. Good,

Sunoco Ultra 94 it is! But if I'm "on the road" and Sunoco isn't available I'll go to "plan B". Shell or Citgo 93 Octane.

Thanks,

Bill
