Yes, it does. It's not so much "torque reduction" (though that is how some people refer to it) as it is simply optimizing the various delays & retards that happen during a full-throttle upshift. Those aspects cause a marked reduction in overall power just before, during and after the upshift, and thus hurt acceleration, so all of that is optimized. And not just for the 1-2 shift, but all the other shifts as well.
