Mike chip for 2004?
Was wondering if you plan on making chips and everything else (electric fan, exaust ,pulleys, etc) for the 2004+ model. if so, how long do you think it will take to get everything tuned for the new model?
Hi CHondro,
Sure, we'll be supporting the next generation of F-series truck & SUV's too, of course.
Now for 2004, Ford is changing the F-150 over to the ptech PCM (as they did in teh Expedition for 2003), so it will be awhile before we have tuning available for the new 2003 Expeditions & 2004 F-150's.
The 2004 F-150 brings a number of changes that aren't even seen in the 2003 Expedition (they use the same platform), such as a new engine, the 300 HP 3-valve version of the 5.4 with computer-controlled variable valve timing, and along with the new powertrain control system, we won't have anything for them the minute they start rolling onto dealer's lots in late August. It's going to be several months at least before we release tuning for them, as the new F-150 is going to take a *lot* of additional R&D that normally doesn't have to be done each new model year. The last time this has to be done for the F-150 was in the 1997 model year, the introduction of the last new F-150, which gave us all new modular engines, etc., along with some changes to the EEC-V PCM's.
Everyone in the aftermarket will be supporting the new F-150's of course, it's the world's most popular vehicle of any kind for the past 2 decades plus. However, it will take some time for performance parts to be available, and we'll just have to see what, if any of the current gear will work on the new F-150. We don't expect much to transfer over, most parts will have to be all-new R&D projects.
It's the same thing that happens when *any* new model is introduced, it takes time for the aftermarket to get new products designed, developed, tested and finally, released to the public. So early 2004 F-150 buyers will have to wait for some time for aftermarket performance parts to be available, because it's a new platform.
But rest assured that we'll be working on getting those new parts to market just as quickly as possible, every aftermarket manufacturer knows the '04 F-150 will be in big demand, and we'll all do it as quickly as we can get a *quality* product out.
