Unless you go with a flip chip with a specialty program, you will need to run at least premium gasoline 91 octane or better. Mike can fill you in more if you call him, but the flipchip has two programs you can toggle between. You coul also go with a specialty chip that Mike can do so you would get the benefits of the transmission shifts without requiring more than 87 Octane but your HP gain is very minimal with that. I have learned this by using the search function since Mike has answered this before.

Like Ed Marvin stated if you go with the regular superchip you will have to run at least 91 octane.

Yes, as both 01 & Ed kindly mentioned in their responses, normally with any performance chip you have to use premium gas, as it's the retuning of the engine specifically for the use of good quality fuel that allows us to add the raw horsepower gains. So that is something that has traditionally been required with performance tuning, it's one of the most basic aspects of increasing engine power output, tuning it for good fuel.
We can always make a chip for you for use on 87 or 89 octane if you like, we do that by special order and make that happen very quickly, just give us a call at our number listed below to do that.
What you'd probably like even better is our Dual Octane 2-program Flip Chip, as it has 2 different performance programs, a performance program for 87 octane on Side 1, and then our normal full performance tuning for premium gas over on Side 2, available by just flipping it's toggle switch to change programs. That gives you the best of both worlds, so to speak, as you can use 87 octane when you want, and when you want maximum power, use premium gas & flip the switch.
