Hi bikenut,

Good to see you again!

The R&D on the new 6.0 PSD is ongoing, there are so many changes that it's requiring an awful lot of R&D, testing, etc., as we've talked about a bit before. It's even more work than when the original 7.3L Powerstroke diesels first came out back in the middle of the 1994 model year in many aspects.

We've got a brand new motor, completely different in so many characteristics, and with a completely different fuel delivery system, just for openers. Add to that a completely different PCM, one of the many p-tech variants based on the PowerPC processor. And for toppers, a new 5-speed automatic transmission. It all adds up to an awful lot of work to R&D an application that won't compromise anything in this basically brand-new vehicle, so it's going to be a while yet.

Current estimates are running anywhere from late Summer to the November timeframe at this point, just to give you a rough idea. My guess it that it will be announced at SEMA, which is usually held during the first halt of November, and I emphasize that is *strictly* a guess on my part.

There are soooo many 6.0 PSD owners, especially those who have had a Superchip for their 7.3 PSD, that are just drooling for us to release this application, as you'd imagine.

Just in case you haven't done this already, make sure to shoot us an email at: Sales@TroyerPerformance.com to have us put you on the list to be notified when it's about to ship. If you have already sent us an email to our old email address, that's fine, you'll still be on the list & thus get an email letting you know.

Thanks for checking in & have fun!

Hi bikenut,

No, not yet, but I do have some updated news for you.......

Superchips is able to tune the 6.0 PSD vehicles, they now have that ability - it looks like they will announce sometime between SEMA & New Year's - anytime within the next 30-60 days.

Ever since they gained the ability to tune these vehicles, they taking their time because of the inherent problems with the 6.0 PSD's - like the fuel injector problem that has many of the 2003 6.0 PSD's dumping 15 gallons of diesel fuel overnight into the oil pan & thus ruining the engine causing a $10K warranty repair, etc. And as long as those problems exist, Superchips does not want to release due to concerns that Ford will attempt to blame *their* problems on Superchips & pull the old BS blame game of denying claims under warranty.

At this point in time, we know that as long as the 6.0 PSD does not have the injector problem by the time you have about 3000 miles on the vehicle, it's not going to happen - but it's still not fixed yet, so Superchips is taking their time and is not in a rush to be first - they're more concerned with being best. In fact, they felt that they should not release a product *AT ALL* for the 2003 6.0 PSD's, and wait for the 2004 6.0 PSD's to hopefully no longer have that problem - but what will probably happen is when they release for the 2004's, the codes for the 2003 6.0's will probably be in the new Micro Tuner as well. Now that's just me guessing as opposed to being anything concrete, but we are lobbying for them to go ahead and release for the 2003 6.0 when they release for the 2004, and that should *hopefully* be in the next 30-60 days.

So hang in there big guy, hopefully your wait will soon be over!

Interesting! I have over 12K now and just had an oil analysis done and they reported back that -according to the analysis- my motor is breaking in very nicely. They went as far as to actually say that Im "one of the lucky ones"

I Totally understand and agree with your/superchips thoughts on this. I am actually still waiting for a decision from the DSB on if my truck is going to be bought back. But regardless, I will get another one right away at this point and if I end up keeping it, at least I seem to have a basically good motor, save for all the computer issues and a couple other bugs. So, Im still gonna wait for the Microtuner

Thanks for the update

Good, glad to hear you're already at 12K miles with no such problems - and that is the case for most of the 6.0 PSD owners.

The buyback rate is just over 1%, which is a high number in the industry of course, and almost all the buybacks are over the injector issue, the problem of having fuel end up in the crankcase which ruins the motor & it must be replaced.

So as long as it's not doing *that* and you don't have any other problems that are not correctable, I wouldn't want them to buy it back - when you've got "a good one," keep it.

Best of luck whatever you decide!
