Talking ordered 1715 today

I ordered my Tuner today and I'm wandering about the gas in my tank. The truck has been garaged for awhile due to foul weather in pittsburgh and I'm pretty sure its regular not premium. Do I need to burn this gas before installing the micro tuner? Or drain it ? Top it off with premium?

Either burn it off, or drain it. Either way, it needs to be premium all the way.

Hi 02roush,

Don't "top it off."

Run out that current tank of fuel, at least until the low fuel light comes on, at that point you'll still have at least 3.5 gallons left in the system, so you can drive it a bit more even after that if you like. Then fill it up with good quality premium gas & you can install the Superchips tuning then.

The normal procedure is simply to run the current tank of 87 octane down until the low fuel light comes on, then fill up with good quality premium gas, and then install the Superchips tuning at that point.

I don't know how long the vehicle has been sitting without being run, or how old that gasoline actually is, but as long as it's not more than a couple of month old, it's certainly ok to drive the vehicle and just run it out of there. You don't need to drain that fuel out manually unless it's *way* old, like 6 months + at least.

Whatever you do, don't top off this existing tank, run it down as low as you reasonably can (without running out & having to walk!), then fill it up with good premium, and then plug in your Superchips tuning & enjoy!
