Can anyone help me with the superchip process, will a superchip
or other brand chip give me more hp / torque, millage etc . ???
Do u have to run more exspensive fuel ?? I am not a street racer just an ordianry joe looking to give the 98' 4.2 a little boost.
but if u must run fuel that is 2 bucks a gallon no thanks .

Hello "SuperHero,"
Well, the single most basic aspect of getting more power from any gasoline engine is a sharper state of tune for good quality fuel. If you want the power and performance benefits of the Superchip, you'll have to use premium gas, which costs an average of 20 cents per gallon more than regular.
Now in terms of the actual increased amount of money you spend for gas, the maximum increase is not more than $100 per 10,000 miles driven; for those driving 15K-20K miles per year, it averages out to be about $2-$3 a week more for gasoline, a very small amount considering the performance gains.
You can pick up a maximum of 25 hp & 31 lbs./t. of torque in the 4.2 V6 from the Superchip, and it will also fix the problem of it being weak below 2500 rpm very nicely. That is a trait that all the 4.2 V6's have in the F-150, being weak at lower rpms, and that's a nice added benefit that helps driveability.
And of course you'll have the TS limiter gone, various delays & retards removed, as well as better shifting in the automatics, in addition to the raw power gains.
We can also provide a 2-program Superchip Flip Chip, which we can set up with a dual octane configuration so that you'll have performance programs for both 87 octane and for premium gas, available at the flip of its switch. The power gain on 87 octane will be very small, perhaps 5 hp at best, but some people go that route so they can have some improvement in performance all the time and then max power when they want to run premium gas.
There are also other ways to gain power in that truck as well, if you don't want to do the chip. Give us a call when you get a chance & we can go over all of that with you in more detail, so you can give it some thought as to the cost, results & implications of various types of modifications to increase power in your 4.2 V6. We have electric fan kits, underdrive pulleys, intakes, ignition & many other parts to make your 4.2 V6 produce more power!
