Micro Tuner Vs Superchip

I want to add some more performance to my truck. I have limited knowledge of engines (I can do some work on them). You had once told me about a microtuner and that it gave you the ability to adjust your performance.

What I really need to know is what is best for me. I like the idea of the microtuner but I would know the slightest about programming it. I am lost and just need some guidance.

I had the same questions. I was told that anyone can use the micro tuner. I just ordered one yesterday and I think if I will be able to figure it out then anyone can. The tuner is nice since you can do so much more with it and the ease of install is a lot better also.

Hi Troy,

Sure, we'll be happy to help.

You don't currently list any modifications in your signature line, so I'll assume the vehicle is bone-stock.

Based on that, the Micro Tuner would be your best way to go for your first modification, as it will work with other modifications like intake kits, a cat-back exhaust system, electric fan kit & underdrive pulleys, etc. You won't need any custom engine tuning to compensate for modifications unless you do things like changing the MAF, larger fuel injectors, a supercharger, nitrous, etc., the more involved modifications.

One thing to remember about the Micro Tuner is that it does not require you to know how to program *anything*, it is a simple plug it in & upload the program device, for lack of a better term. It has a complete instruction manual and the programmer itself is menu driven, it's very simple to use & requires no programming knowledge or skills, so don't worry about that. the programming you need is already done, you just use the Micro Tuner to upload it, that's all. You don't need to know anything about engine tuning, either, all of that is already done for you.

Optimizing your powertrain programming is the single best bang for the buck performance modification, as nothing else will improve performance more for less money. Don't get me wrong, it's not going to suddenly turn a 2.5-3 ton truck into a performance machine, but it is the best bang for the buck.

With the Micro Tuner, you also get the built-in OBD-II code scanner and the ability to correct your speedomter for change to tire size and gear ratio; you can even set your own WOT upshift points if you want to.

The Micro Tuner allows you a simple plug-n-play program upload, in about 8 minutes, very easy. You don't have to know how to program anything, you don't have to make any complicated choices, you can simply take all the Superchips defaults and let it do it's thing. It's a menu-driven hand held unit that is very simple & easy to deal with right out of the box.

Based on where you're at right now, using the Micro Tuner would be your best first choice for improving performance. What you might want to do is give us a call if you'd like for us to go over this with you in more detail. We can talk with you about what kind of performance you're looking for, how you're using the vehicle, etc. to let you know the best way to get there, and at what point you need to be concerned about other things as you modify your vehicle for more and more performance, etc.

Our contact info is just below & we'll be happy to help.

We also have an online ordering system right here, you can access it by clicking on the link just below in our signature line.

Talk to you soon,
