looking for a chip
Hi Buckeye,
You came to the right place!
We offer both the traditional Superchip module and the newer Superchips Micro Tuner for your 1998 Expedition w/4.6. It will add power and give you much better shift characteristics in the automatic transmission, as well as removing the top speed limiter, etc.
The Superchip attaches to the back of your PCM and requires removing the PCM to clean it's connector, about a 30-40 minute job, where the Micro Tuner simply connects via the OBD-II port inside the cabin and uploads the program changes in about 8-10 minutes. The Micro Tuner costs more, and has more features, such as the ability to set your own full-throttle 1-2, 2-3 & 3-4 upshift points individually if you want to fine tune that (or you can just accept the Superchips defaults for those values), as well as alter your own shift firmness level for each individual gear change. The Micro Tuner also has a built-in OBD-II code scanner as well, making it a heck of a value for all it's capabilities.
All in all, most people are going with the Micro Tuner thanks to it's additional features (which inlcude speedo correction on 1999 & up models), and both are available so you can take your choice. We have them both listed in our online ordering system here, which you can access just by clicking on the link just below in our signature line.
If you'd like to go over this in more detail, please give us a call at our number listed below & we'll be happy to cover everything with you thoroughly & answer any questions you may have, etc.
Hope you had a Merry Christmas,
