Talking IT's HERE; IT's HERE! Yipeeeee!

Mike T and all: Got my MicroTuner tonight! Now I've got to figure out how to get the last 1/4 tank of gas out of it. I don't know, but it sure seems like I'm getting 30mpg now, trying to finish off the 87 octane! Drove over to Idaho today, told the wife I'd like to take her shopping Played all the way...well, I'll head over to the garage tomorrow and put on my new washer nozzles with L.E.D. Blue lighting; chrome gas cover and do the reprogramming. MagnaFlow catback should be here next week, if the Christmas shipping doesn't mess it around.
More to come! and MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all! Hope Santa is good to you all!
TJ

That's great!! You'll really like it. I've had mine about a month or so and I'm still enjoying playing with the settings. You live near me so FYI-I've found Chevron Supreme seems to work best in my 5.4L.
Have fun and stay safe especially when driving to FAFB as I'm sure the local coppers may take note of your "super tuned" beast!!

THANKS 69ShelbyGT-350...

Thanks, It's a wonder they haven't gotten me yet! Since I put my AirForce 1 intake on, I love to take it out of overdrive and push the RPMs to about 3k and listen to the whistle of the intake, sounds "almost" like a blower...
Hey you wouldn't have any suggestions on muffler shops in the area? I could do the work myself, but I'm thinking of welding the system in place. No plans, now, of getting rid of the truck.
I didn't notice what your ride is?
Chat at you later, maybe we get together sometime
Tim

I have a 2001 F-150 Supercab, 4WD with the 7700 payload package. I, too, am going to put on and Air Force 1 along with a Magnaflow system. Instead of using local muffler shops I'm getting my stuff through Troyerperformance when he gets the website up and running. Man! I hope Mike gets that website up and running soon. I've got lots 'o cash just burning a hole in my wallet and I can't think of a better person to give it to then Mike Troyer!!

Cool All my stuff came from Performance (Mike T)

I've got my MagnaFlow coming from Performance (Mike T); and will be dealing with him with everything else.
I'm just thinking about having it welded, instead of clamps. Also, the "Y" pipe has to be cut off and new one welded on. I "could" get somewhere to do that, but was just seeing if anyone knew anywhere in Spokane that were reputable...

Tim, I've done business with MufflerMart at 4208 N. Division for my Mustangs and trucks. They do nice work and seem to really care about doing things right. Their phone number is 487-7707.

THANKS! Tell me about your screen name?

You don't call your Shelby (Elenor) do you. I'm watching ""Gone in 60 Seconds" " tonight and really into the HORSEPOWER!

Thanks on the tip for the shop, I'll diffently check them out. Hope the exhaust system gets here Monday or Tuesday.

I put the chip in today...had the belts squeeeeling! I adjusted the shift pressure up a couple notches over the regular program. I'm probably going to put the TransGO shift kit in next month. Well, got to go finish the movie.

Hey Tim,

The screen name comes from my 69 Shelby. I bought it 12 years ago and haven't had a chance to restore it yet. I think it's gonna be a retirement project. No, I don't call it Eleanor. But I did name my daughter Shelby. I named her not after the car. Rather, I named her in honor of Carroll Shelby, THE MAN!! I got to meet him several years ago at a Shelby Convention. What'd really be cool is if Carroll got back with Ford and put together a Shelby F-150. That thing would scream!
I haven't seen Gone in 60 Seconds yet. But fortunately, they used several 67 Fastbacks made up to look like 67 Shelbys. It'd make me sick to see a Shelby creamed!
Yeah, I read your post about the squealing serpentine belt. Tim'll fix ya up with a Goodyear Gatorback belt. The noise won't cause damage-it's just annoying. Ford uses cheap belts which slide on the pulleys causing the screech.
See ya.

Tom

Hi Tim,

Glad you got it, you'll love it!

Hi Shelby69,

Actually, we've just turned over the first 500+ parts to our development company a few days ago to build the database & e-commerce application, but it will still be at least a few weeks at this point, I'd say, bare minimum.

If there is anything you don't feel like waiting for (if you're anything like me, when you have the funds available you want it right now ), you can always get whatever you want from us by just giving us a quick call. Yu can call us collect to place an order too, we have people who can't make long-distance calls from work so they call us collect, which is fine for orders. Just FYI, & in the meantime we're working on the site, pant-pant..............

Merry Christmas, all you hot-rodders!

Talking OK...here is the initial feedback on MicroTuner!!!

I'm really PLEASED and Surprised! Just went out for about a 150mile trek with 75 miles interstate and about 75 miles mixed back country roads and stop and go small towns.
I've reconfirmed all the figures and my MPGs are 15.6. That's with three 1/2 mile "punch it" sessions...
My last prior to putting the MicroTuner to work was 11.8mpg. Now I'll be keeping details on this and see where it goes BUT, I'm very pleased. Can't wait until the exhaust get's here. Can you tell that I'm really having a lot of fun! My wife is about ready to commit me! but she did say "WOW" when I took her out last night for a spin. So she can tell the difference.
I did adjust the "transmission" shift pressure to the middle range. I'm probably going to go to MAX as I really like the shifting.

More later.
Tim

Hi Tim,

Sounds like excellent results, we're obviously delighted to hear that you & your wife are both able to feel the difference, we always love to hear that.

One small point, and that is, I doubt that you are going to see a true 3+ mpg gain in reality as time & miles mount up. Once you go thru a couple full tanks and do the calculations by filling up until the first "click" of the pump, and then divide the number of miles driven by the number of gallons it took to re-fill the tank until teh first "click" of teh gas pump (you can't use the gas gauge, it's nowhere near accurate enough for that), I don't think you'll see that much of an increase.

It's *possible*, but that's really at the highest end of reported results, just to let you know. We've never seen anything bigger than 3.5 mpg gain before, and only on few occasions at that. It's usually more like 1.5 mpg to maybe 2.0 mpg on the highway, just to share some data with you, but it will be interesting to see just how that actually shakes out for you over time. Many of us love to see the results reported as you as, thanks for taking the time to do that TIm, that's very considerate of you!

Have fun,

Talking THANKS Mike...throwing water on my fire!

Just kidding! Yeah, I wasn't taking the initial 150miles mpg reading as "gospel"! Wasn't even a tank of gas...I do have a question.
My rpm's seem to be running about 500 less then previous. Out on the Interstate running 70mph previous was about 2200/2300rpm; now it's running around 1600/1700rpm???? Is that something to be expected?

IF NOTHING ELSE the driveability I've experienced is worth the three + notes for the MicroTuner!!! Pickup, torque are phenominal! I'll be logging all mileage and keeping things up to date and see where this goes...but to all the "nay sayers" come into the light!

Hi Tim,

Yes, I can tell you exactly where that ~500 rpm reduction in cruising rpms is coming from...........

Your engine now has more power thanks to the Superchips tuning, thus it can satisfy throttle demand (either via right foor or cruis control), so the torque converter can stay locked up more often/longer, in addition to being able to stay in Overdrive longer as well. Between those 2 it's a significant difference. Just the TQ lockup alone is worth 400-600 rpms reduction in cruisng rpm under some driving conditions, and when that happens, it will usually also translate to better mpg, too.

It's just a by-product of the additional power now available, so the torque converter no longer has to unlock to allow the engine to make enough power to satisfy throttle demand. Nor does the transmission have to downshift back out of Overdrive (4th gear inteh automatics) to 3rd gear, so you'll see both happen, more of a tendency to be able to stay in Overdrive, and more of a tendency for the TQ to stay locked up.

Enjoy,
