I remember you recommended to me to use mineral spirits to remove paint that was run over.

Well, got some mineral spirits and using a cotton cloth and it's tough in taking the paint splatter.

Does it really take a lot of rubbing to take the freckles of paint?
How do I know if I am putting too much mineral spirits, do I risk any clearcoat damage?

Is it a splatter or fine mist? For something like that you can use a clay bar. Clay was originally used by paintshops for overspray, which is why it is still referred to by some as overspray clay.

For bigger stuff take a rag and soak it in the mineral spirits and let it sit and dwell on the spots of paint for a little bit. Then you can carefully rub them off. Remeber to let the chemicals do the work.

 

It's fine mist, and a few big ones.
Ok.. I'll try again tomorrow. I only worked on a small area today, I'll finish it off tomorrow.

Do risk any damage leaving it too long or putting too much of the chemical?

 

You don't want to always be using mineral spirits but for something like this it is fine.
