Dealer's "paint sealant"

Does anyone know what this stuff really is? They say it protects against bird crap, tree sap, and all kinds of stuff.

A friend picked up a new VW. He got the paint sealant. They said he won't have to wax for 5 years! Over a year now and it still looks good. I'm not sure if the water still beads on it, I'll have to check.

They are usually just purchasing a warranty sealant from a company. I know Valugard makes a warranty sealant.

I have Pro's Profection, which is their warranty sealant. If I get the stuff, then to properly prepared surfaces I can apply it w/ a warranty.

I've never seen it make a difference either way, paint will last 5 years max without waxing and polishing. After that it will begin to go bad and chalk out. Personally I think paint sealants are a scam, but of course it's just an opinion.,,,,98

My paint is going on 6 years and looks awesome. Of course I'm constantly buffing, waxing and polishing to keep it there

I saw a 4 year old Blue F-150 that had tons of oxidation on it. So much oxidation you could hardly see a reflection in it... take that back, you couldn't see any reflection in it.

Thumbs up

well, 5 years max I meant with at least some washing and waxing Like the guys that wash once a month, and wax once a year. NO washing and NO wax will kill paint in about 3 years or so. I cringe when I see those cars and trucks around Houston. The ones with black front wheels and 1/8 inch of road scum bonded to the sides. These people bother me to distraction, lol!,,,,98
