Dealer Paint and Fabric Protection
What is it and how much SHOULD it cost?
My wife and are looking at a new Taurus for her (I hit a deer and totaled her old one), and the dealer (not Ford) has added the 10 year paint and fabric protection. The initial cost was $399, which was quickly dropped to $299. A 33% markup (IF $299) pisses me off to begin with, but I'm guessing it's more than that. I doubt if it was dropped it to cost.
Is this anything more than ScotchGaurd and a wax job?
I can't haggle with the guy over the price of the car because I get A plan. But I would like to know what this cost him.
