I'm thinking the same thing. I usually stop by this forum section every few weeks to see if there's any threads on LG that i could help out on. Usually there's like one maybe two, tonight there's like 5 LoL!

anyway, Intel, i had a question for ya. I was thinking about getting a buffer. NOT for the truck, i don't trust myself enough and i'd rather do it by hand anyway. I wanted to get a cheap one because i'm going to be painting some bigger plastic pieces for like under the hood and stuff, and the dremel was fine for the tiny pieces, but i need something bigger for the bigger pieces. What kind/specific one would you recommend? and how much would it run? I mainly need it for buffing after wetsanding the clear coat to get it nice and shiney again! LoL Or would i be better off with some attachments for an electric drill??? Thanks for any help/info. i have very little knowledge in teh buffer area of detailing. thanks!

Well... cheap, eh?

My rotary cost $200 by itself without any pads. Pads are like $8.50 or something like that. Rotary buffers take practice though.

You can do a random orbital. DeWalt's DW443 runs for like $150 online and comes with a back plating. You'll have to buy pads seperate. They are like $8 each. The DeWalt spins fast enough to remove sandpaper marks and it is less dangerous than a rotary.

Can also go with a PC. They are around $100 but you need to buy the back plate for it as well as pads. I'm also not sure if it has the power to take out sandpaper marks. *shrug*

You can also go with a pneumatic buffer but they are more expensive than electric and you need an air compressor.

Once you start using a buffer though then you'll love it.

Thanks for the info Intel. looks like its outta my range for now Got a real bad case of the mod bug lately Going to be getting a bedrug, L tails, billet under hood accessories and hood/tonneau struts. Then in the spring maybe 2 pearl red ghost flames on the hood (one on each scoop) and my new hood inserts should be here soon to match my grilles. LoL thanks

I was wondering the same thing about the LG posts. Just a few months ago it was ZAINO ZAINO ZAINO. Looks as though we've had a paradigm shift here. LOL!

DeWalt 443

Intel, does your buffer have a bag attached to it. The only DeWalt 443 I can find is a 443R. Is this the same one you use. If not will this one work. Here's the web page. http://www.toolking.com/dewalt/view.asp?id=2147

Thanks.

Yes, my buffer has the dust collection but the bag and stuff comes off. You won't need it for buffing

wedgewoodblue00,

The DeWalt 443R is a factory reconditioned 443. Same thing but cheaper. It's quite possible that is was returned to the store and by law, the store cannot sell as new. It's probably as good as a new one.
