I FOUND A FREAKIN' SCRATCH ON MY DOOR! IT'S NOT TO BAD, I GUESS YOU COULD CALL IT A HAIRLINE SCRATCH. WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST THING TO GET IT OUT WITH? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANX

I WENT TO THE LOCAL AUTOZONE TODAY AND BOUGHT SOME SCRATCH OUT MADE BY KIT. I DON'T KNOW IF IT WILL WORK BUT I'LL GIVE IT A TRY. THE REASON I POSTED ABOUT THIS WAS BECAUSE I DID'NT WANT TO BUY SOMETHING THAT WILL MESS THE FINISH UP ON MY TRUCK, AND WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD AT LEAST TELL ME WHAT WOULD BE SAFE TO USE. THANKS ANYWAY!

I suggest Eagle one Scratch remover.

Eagle One Scratch remover as well as the other scratch removers I have tried will fog up the pain that you use it on. You will need to use a polish on the area and rewax it.

3m swirl mark remover would be my first try. If that doesn't work try one of their more aggressive compounds....

I agree with 3M swirl mark remover if it's bad but if it's a very light scratch, try the 3M one step cleaner wax part number 39006. I use this on my black Jeep Grand Cherokee and afterwards all light scratches are gone and it looks great. I don't work for 3M either.

Hope you get the scratch out...

I got my first scratch the 2nd day I had the truck I know how ya feel!

I HAVE SOME MEGUIRE'S CLEANER WAX OUT IN MY GARAGE. WOULD THAT WORK? THE SCRATCH IS NOT DEEP, IT'S BARELY NOTICABLE UNLESS YOU GET RIGHT UP ON IT TO LOOK AT IT. MAYBE MORE LIKE A HAIRLINE SCRATCH.

Cool Try it , it won't hurt

Very mild product.

Start by using a circular motion, as it works the marring out, when done, switch to striaght line movements.

Do one more polishing after the marring is gone if this removes it.

Use only back and forth motions with a very soft cloth.

Get under the sink and find the bottle of rubbing alcohol and clean the polished area to ascertain if you actually removed the marring or just oiled it up.

If the scratch may be felt with your finger nail, this process will not work, it is deeper than .3 to .5 mil.

If you can not feel it with your finger nail, but the polish doesn't remove, you will need to do a two step process, one using the same method and a clear coat compound,(don't use the heavy red stuff!) and then polish the compound marks out using the polish.

May have to do a bit more work, but once gone, then reapply what ever wax/sealant you use.

If you wish to see just how thick the clear is, how it may be damaged, etc, check out the sections of Tech Tips, Magazine Articles and OEM/TSB areas at www.autoint.com

Man I would have a heart attack if I put in so much energy to scratches. I had a real nice and shiny 1995 F150 but now it's covered with hairline scratches. Oh and other dents. God I love four wheeling. I found GS27 to work verry well. For bigger scratches, you can always get some touch up paint. Put it on nicely, sand it down with some fine grit auto sandpaper, slap on some GS27, polish, good as new.
