Rustproofing?
I just bought a 2002 F150 I was wondering what everyones opinion is on rust proofing I live where they use salt and I would like to keep the truck rust free are there other options?
noway,
This is just my opinion..........when I bought my 1999 F150 new I had it undercoated. I guess you can call this rustproofing if you want to.
If you noticed the underneath of your bed is just painted. Not too good IMHO. So I went and had it undercoated with that tar-like coating that is common with this application. I can't specifically state it has prevented rust but I have none AND the truck was somewhat quieter too. It also appears to act as a sound deadener so I guess it's serving a dual purpose. You spent some big dollars for your truck as I did and I didn't want to quibble over another $100/$150 to help preserve my truck.
Just go to a competant shop, one that removes your spare tire and doesn't coat your driveshaft, exhaust and cables with the stuff. I had mine done at the same dealer that installed my Rhino bedliner, all done the same day and they did a first class job.
