I talked to the Ford body shop manager yesterday about the crack on my door and he said it is covered under the warranty and they have a reinforcement kit they use, but it will take 3-5 days to fix it and will not provide alternate transportation. At least they will fix it!

I've got a '98 with 65,000 miles and haven't noticed any cracks yet - Does anyone have a picture of what yall are referring to?

This is what they look like and the general area that they appear but the exact location can vary. Mine is where the 2 weather strips come together. For referance, the crack is at the back side of the door and can happen on either the passenger or driver's side.

Exclamation I have a pdf copy of the current door crack TSB

I have a copy of the current Door Crack TSB. It is TSB 01-18-2, dated September 10, 2001. It superseded TSB 01-2-6, dated January 29, 2001. They are essentially the same, but they removed the preventative fix in the new TSB and did some changes to the procedures and adhesives. What this means is that you cannot have the preventative fix installed with or without a warranty. I found this out when they were going to do the preventative fix on my truck and when they pulled it up it showed that it had been superseded and the preventative fix was no longer available. If any one would like a copy of the new TSB or would like a copy to post on the web somewhere, just send me an e-mail.

This is ridiculous!

I have a '97 & I have cracks in both doors. I'm lucky - they're small for now (<1/4") but here in Buffalo, the salt from the roads & dampness alone will make them grow - forget the door flex!

Tim - if you have time would it be possible to get the latest TSB on this? If you don't mind can you email me? My email is Cowlady18@cs.com - I'm curious to see what it has to say. Am I understanding it correctly - they're refusing preventative fixes but not refusing to repair it? Me is confused! HELP! LOL! Thanks!
